Faye Scott

Faye Eleanor Brown Scott was born on March 13, 1939, in Hill City, Kansas, the seventh child of Neil D. Brown and Annabell Green Brown. The family moved to Wichita, KS in 1944. This is where Faye graduated from North High School in 1957. She married Ivan W. Scott on September 8, 1957 and shortly thereafter moved to Baltimore, Maryland. From this union two children were born. Ivan Jr. (Tony) and Kimberly. She became a young widow in 1970. To support her young family she worked at Rosewood State Hospital. She later attended the Community College of Baltimore, receiving an Associates of Arts degree in Psychology. She moved to Denver in 1977, to be near her aging parents. She worked at Home Instead In-Home Health Care from June 2005 until November 2011, receiving employee of the month in November 2005 and also in November 2008. Raised in a Christian household, Faye also showed interest in the Buddhist and Islamic religions. Faye later returned to the Christian faith and joined Shorter A.M.E. Church. As a child of God, Faye was a loving daughter, sister and doting mother. As a child, she loved to tease her baby brother Harvey. She also liked to wear her hair in Shirley Temple curls. As a teenager she enjoyed socializing with her five good friends, who called themselves "The Sparks". She was a lover of music and musicians. She experienced the joy of attending concerts by Horace Silver, Jimi Hendrix, Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Sarah Vaughan, Prince and many others. After retiring, she enjoyed life as an avid gardener, gourmet cook and fancy quilter. She loved God, was a spirited and kind soul, loved her family and friends, and appreciated every day on this earth. She will be forever missed. Faye is preceded in death by her parents, Neil and Annabell Brown, two brothers, Charles and Roy Brown and two sisters, Christabell and Ruby Brown and one grandson, Sean Christopher Anderson. Faye Eleanor Scott departed this life on February 14, 2014 in Denver, Colorado. Those left to mourn her passing include her children, Ivan W. (Carolyn) Scott, Jr. and Kimberly Anderson all of Aurora; three grandchildren, Darrick, Cameron and Corey; one sister, Gail Brooks, of Crofton, MD; two brothers, Neil (Eudie) Brown, Jr. of Longview, TX and Harvey (Ella) Brown of Los Angeles, CA and a host of nieces and nephews.
