Evangeline Lee

March 4, 1952 — June 23, 2018

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 Sister Evangeline Lee was born on March 4, 1952 in Rochester, Pennsylvania and was called home to be with the Lord June 23, 2018. She was the fourth of six children born to the late Simmie Jesse Hill, Sr. and Alice Jessie Bryant-Hill. Evangeline was also preceded in death by her sister Wyona Lavern (Hill) Akins and brother Simme Jesse Hill, Jr. Evangeline leaves her husband, Jules Edward Lee, of whom have been together for 37 years, two brothers, Gregory Hill (Barbara) and Daniel Danell Hill (Tita), and sister, Catherine Louise Hill. In Evangeline’s early life, she attended Lincoln High School in Midland, Pennsylvania where she performed as a majorette for 3 years. She was energetic and had an infectious laugh. After living in Columbus, Ohio, Evangeline relocated to Colorado where she was later followed by her siblings Wyona and Daniel. In Colorado, she met her husband and she met many lifelong friends. Sister Lee was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in which she attended for 18 years. Evangeline enjoyed reading, singing, and was always a fan of a good television series. She worked for the IRS nearly 15 years and remained dedicated until she was called home. When Evangeline met obstacles, she remained positive. She leaves to cherish her memory: Children, Jules Newcoste and Kyle Lee (Jenniffer) nieces and nephews: Aaron Jr., Tara, Doremus, Janese (Kareem), Martin Jr. (Stephanie), Damon (Erica), Nathaniel (Isabella), Jonathan, Tracy, Kenia, Lucretia, Dion, Damian (Muriel), Nakia, Felicia, Katina, Terrell (Sara), Christopher (Lisa), Dominique, Tori, Gavita, Ranessa, Cherish, Destiny, Darius, Tania, Amber, Quinton, and a host other relatives and friends.
