Eva Mae Pruitt was born in Bryans Mill, Texas on July 18, 1925. She was the second child to Willie Jenkins and Peoria Illinois Jenkins. Soon after Eva Mae was born, the family moved to Winnsboro, TX in 1932, where she was raised with her two sisters, Willienell, and Itiria Pruitt. She attended school in the Winnsboro Public School District, where she graduated from Dunbar High School. As the second child, she displayed strength, pride, and dignity with a heart full of love, which she carried throughout her entire life. She was a helpful and responsible child who always enjoyed working with her hands and spending time with her sisters and cousins. She loved children and with that passion, she enjoyed taking care of and spending time with them. In 1936, at the age 11, Eva accepted the Lord as her personal savior at Tranquility Baptist Church in Winnsboro, Texas. As a child, Eva met Cleoliver L. Pruitt. He would lovingly nickname her, "Bunny". Cleoliver's and Bunny would united in holy matrimony on October 5, 1946. They relocated to Denver, Colorado and to that union, seven children were born, Donna, Dennis, Calvert, Art, Don Anthony, Lisa and Thalia. Once in Denver, Colorado, Eva Mae gained employment with the St. Luke's Hospital as a Nurse's Aide. She worked there for 16 years, all the while attending school receiving her B.A. in Child Development. A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, Eva Mae was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church since July of 1947. She served as the receptionist, a member of the EEOC Missionary Society, and a teacher in the nursery, where she received the Trailblazer Award on May 1, 1999. She was a devoted wife and mother, whose pride and joy was raising her children and her relationship with the Lord. She truly enjoyed her fellowship that was shared with her church family. After Cleoliver's passing on June 16, 1982, she continued to be a very active member fulfilling her services at Macedonia Baptist Church, where she attended any and every convention nationwide. She always LOVED cooking and having family dinners. She especially loved to spend time telling funny stories of her upbringing with her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She always would give you something to think about. Eva Mae may have been small in stature but she was always strong in her faith and with that switch. She will be truly missed by all those who were fortunate to have known her, and to know Eva Mae Pruitt was to love her. Eva Mae was preceded in death by husband, Cleoliver Pruitt; her father, Willie Jenkins; her mother, Peoria Illinois Jenkins; and her sister, Itiria Pruitt.
