Eva Stefanie Voelker Bragg Morrison was born in 1937, in Vienna, Austria to Cornelius and Maria Voelker during the beginning of World War II. As a young girl, Eva had to flea Austria to the country side with her mother and brother, Heinrich "Henry" to survive the war. She attended Catholic school and was baptized Catholic as a baby. In 1956, she came to the United States, where she met her first husband in Colorado Springs, William H Bernard. To this union a daughter, Regina was born in 1959. This marriage was later dissolved. She later met and married Vernon Bragg and to this union, she gave birth to a son, James in 1960 and a daughter, Monica in 1965. Vernon preceded her in death in 1967. Eva then met and later married Joe Morrison and to this union, Rana was born in 1970; this marriage ended in divorce. In 1997, she found companionship and love with Conrad C. Fletcher. They had met a number of years earlier while working together. The couple travelled all across the United States, Canada, and Mexico as members of The Horseless Carriage Club, where she served as Secretary. They also enjoyed camping and fishing. They shared many happy and precious moments together. Eva was a brilliant woman who had many accomplishments, she an Executive Administrator for Fletcher Enterprises Demolition and Excavating Inc., she was the first woman in Colorado to receive an A-Class license from Mayor Federico Pena for demolition and excavating. She was in charge of designing placement of dynamite that would eventually cause a building to implode. Eva also managed to get her Real-Estate License and worked many years for Edelweiss Reality. She was a woman who had high moral character and was very strong in her convictions. After leaving Europe and making it through Hitler's war, she came to America and fought and marched in the civil-rights movement. She gave birth to four biracial children during a period when it was frowned upon for whites and blacks to mix. As a mother, there is nothing she wouldn't do to ensure her children had the best; including working two jobs at a time, if necessary. Anyone who knew Eva, knew she loved to talk about history, world events, and they also knew they needed to have their facts correct before starting a conversation. She was an enthusiastic reader and loved history discussions; she was always up for the challenge. She believed in the importance of education and passed that same belief on to her children and grandchildren. Her lifelong dream was to be a History Teacher. She spent much of her time teaching her children world history. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful woman. To know Eva was to love her. Eva was preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Rana Morrison-Classen; her parents, and her brother.
