Ethel Bailey

Ethel DeLois Jean Bailey, 84 years of age, went home on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at the Denver Hospice.

Lois (as she was commonly known by) was born on July 1, 1935, in Dallas, Texas to the late, Elgin E. Thomas, Sr. and Junie Eileen (Austin) Thomas. She was the eldest of five children. In her teens, the family relocated to Denver, Co in the late 1940's. She became a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Lois was educated in the Denver Public Schools, graduating from Manual High School in 1953. She met and later married Robert E. Bailey (Deceased) and three daughters were born from this union. Deborah E., Sherrie N., and Stephanie A. preceded her in death. Lois retired from the banking industry in 1997.

Lois was an avid puzzler, crosswords & jigsaw puzzles (she had hundreds). Lois also LOVED to cook and she was Excellent at it too. We will miss her wonderful dinners. She was always trying new recipes, the only food item she struggled with was Mommy Ethel's homemade biscuits (but she had fun trying) She enjoyed life to the fullest, she was a fun-loving person (she would slap a "BOSTON" on you with the greatest of ease) and she possessed a loving & caring spirit.

Lois was also preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Ethel Williams, her mother, Eileen Briscoe, stepfather, Chaunsha (Charles) Briscoe and a grandson, Preston A. Hill.

Lois leaves behind to cherish her loving memory her daughters, Deborah (Robert) Washington Martinez and Sherrie Bailey; 3grandchildren, Melanie M. Moore, Brian E. Moore, and Dante M. Hill; 4 great grandchildren. Dante'A. Hill, Jada A. Hill, Danae' S. Hill and Emaiya P. Wilson. She also leaves behind her four siblings, Elgin E. Thomas, Jr, James L. Thomas (Avis), Beverly A. House (Governor) and Michael D. Briscoe and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mom/Lois you are at peace now, born anew in the grace of God.
