A Life Well Lived Essie life story began on August 12, 1946 in Holly Grove, Arkansas, she was born to her parents, Ruben Henry Marshbank and Jessie Ree Marshbank. She was the oldest of 5 sidlings, three sisters and one brother. Essie grew up in Holy Grove, Arkansas , and was educated in the Holly Grove, Arkansas Public School System. Essie later moved to Denver, Colorado. Essie accepted Christ as her personal savior early on as a young woman. Essie and her parents joined the Central Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor W. O. Mays, where she has remained a faithful and dedicated member for over 50 years. Her favorite Prayer – Psalms 21:1-6 (The Lord's Prayer) Essie was united in holy matrimony with Willie James Lundy on April 22, 1958 at Central Baptist Church. To this union a daughter, Jessie and a son, Willie were born. She was a mother who found joy in the care and nature of her family. She was later blessed with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Essie loved to cook Sunday dinner, even if it meant inviting family over to dine in her southern eatery. As a treat to herself she loved her burritos, "hot, hot, hot" She loved to capture family memories through videography, which she would later watch during family gatherings. Family cook-outs brought joy to her heart to share a moment with all of her loved ones over good eating, music and playing cards. Essie found joy in growing her own crops; such as, collard greens, mustard greens, tomatoes, onions, peppers, strawberries, nectarines, peaches and grapes. She also loved her flowers and took pride in watching them grow through life's simple transitions. If you wanted to find Essie, you could find her gardening or doing simple landscape in her yard. When it was relaxation time, you could find her falling asleep in her favorite chair watching her soap operas. She appreciated what it meant to be independent, filling her home with all of the fine china that she could find. She enjoyed long phone conversations with each of siblings one after another and multiple calls to her daughter, Jessie, everyday. Life would not have been the same without her best friends, " daughter and her siblings." Essie loved waiting for her eldest granddaughter to call her and it would bring light to her face and joy to her heart to spend 45 minutes laughing and talking. Essie loved her grandchildren with all of her heart; she would take her youngest granddaughter to get her nails done as part of their bonding time when she was just a little girl. Essie loved to take road trips across the county, at least, once a year to experience what else the world had to offer and to visit other family members Essie was a strong woman with the strength of a lioness and a warrior, which she wanted all of her family and grandchildren to remember.
