Ernestine Boyd made her way into this world on April 26, 1943 in Lubbock,Texas as the fourth child of Dan and Evelyn Daniels. Her siblings Don (Ann) Daniels; Kenneth (Linda) Daniels; Clifford Adams, Patricia and Wanda Jean remember their sister with love and kindness. She was a strong-willed child.
Ernestine graduated from Paul Dunbar High School in Lubbock, Tx and went on to marry her first love Ernest Smith in August of 1962. Tanya, Timothy and Kindra were the gifts born to this union. That marriage was later dissolved.
When Ernestine met Curtis Boyd, she knew she’d found her soulmate. They were married on April 7, 1985 and remained together until her final breath on this side of heaven. They were blessed to have Wanda (James) Woods; Terri Boyd Diane (Dee Dee) and Curtis Jr. Ernestine loved to work with her hands knitting and crocheting. She always had a warm blanket for all the newborns.
Ernestine also loved to take her grandchildren to eat catfish sandwiches at the Horizon Lounge in the Holly. They remember watching Westerns and listening to her reliving her childhood while watching old TV show reruns. One of her unique gifts, was that not only was she an artist, but she was also left-handed.
Ernestine worked many years in the custodial field at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Denver. She attended King Baptist Church. Of all the things she liked to do, her most favorite time was spent with her loving husband Curtis reading and working crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed the time spent with friends when they went to the Horizon.
Ernestine departed this life on November 26, 2022 at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving family. She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughters, Tanya, Kindra, Wanda, Terry, and Diane “Dee Dee”; her sons, Timothy, Curtis Jr and Dominic; her siblings, Don, Kenneth and Clifford, Patricia and Wanda Jean; 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
