Ernest Lee Warner was born on October 21, 1948, in Collierville, Tennessee to his parents, Robert Warner and Odessa Key Warner. He was the first child born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, Robert and Marville. As a child, he enjoyed fishing and hunting alongside his father. They shared many happy and memorable moments together. He received his early education in Memphis, Tennessee where he graduated from high school. Ernest was the proud father of a daughter, named LaWanda Thornton. They were able to rekindle their relationship and enjoyed the special moments they shared together. In 1981, he met Gloria Hawkins in Denver, Colorado. She remembers his sense of humor, his kindness, and his love. He was a great father to his daughter Tiara. She fondly remembers him calling her “Tiara Kid” and being there when needed. He was later blessed with 10 grandchildren, Rondell, Tiffani, Justin, Jahla, Javel, Jaquee, Julian, Alexander, Zakaya, Kaleb, and one great-grandson, Madden who all were an additional source of joy and pride in his life. They lovingly called him “Pop” and fondly remember all the happy and precious moments they shared together. Ernest was employed as a Machinist when he lived in Virginia. In his free time, he was an Artist and he enjoyed visits to “The Hills.” His closest friends, Big Blue, Little Blue, and Gus will miss the camaraderie’s they all shared together. They will also miss his kindness, generosity and his being a caring friend. Ernest was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed watching the Denver Broncos, the Colorado Rockies, and he enjoyed golf. He was a man who provided for his family even during difficult and challenging times. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this one of a kind guy. To know Ernest was to love him. Ernest Lee Warner departed this life on September 24, 2018, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include his devoted wife, Gloria D. Hawkins of Denver, Colorado; 3 daughters, LaWanda Thornton of Cordova, Tennessee, Tiara D. Hawkins (Cezar Morris), and Tiffany Hawkins all of Denver, Colorado; 1 son, Pastor Alphonso B. (Missionary Marti) Hawkins of Denver, Colorado; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild, and a host of other relatives and many friends.
