Elmer was born in Texas on March 12, 1935 to her parents JB and Elsie Hughes. She was raised by Mrs. Elizabeth who introduced her to the faith walk and loved and cared for her as her own child. She grew up with her brothers Nelson, June, Alvin, Gene and sisters Cora, Donnetta, and Goldie. She received her formal education from Manuel High School in Denver, CO. She graduated from Orchard Road Christian Center mastering the Prophetic Gifts of Healing. She joined in matrimony the love of her life Rev. Bufford Benton. To this union they raised Timothy, Pamela, Debora and Lisa. It was a great joy to lead her children to the Lord and teach them through example what trusting in God looked like. Elmer was appointed by God to lead and draw others onto him. In response to her calling, her passion blossomed for doing the work of the Lord. Elmer know the vitality of the spoken word and faith, reiterating this where ever she went. Her life was filled with vivid stories that exemplified God’s power and truth’s. Manifesting not only in her life but the lives of all she encountered. Elmer Luis Benton departed from this life to eternity on August 5th 2018 in Denver Colorado. She leaves behind her husband of 59 years, Rev. Bufford Benton of Denver Colorado; 1 son Dr. Timothy Jackson of Bartlesville, OK; Daughters Debora Hendrix of Houston, TX, Lisa Howard of Denver, CO; 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, 1 brother, 2 sisters and a long list of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Proceeded in death by her Father, Mother, Sister, Brothers, Granddaughter Amana Marie Petry, and daughter Pamela Moore.
