Eligah Williams was born on July 31, 1928, in Conway, Arkansas to his parents, James C. Williams and Roberta Walker-Williams. He was the third of nine children born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, Harrison, Benny, Milton, Theodis and his sisters, Syretta, Rosetta, Corean and Ocie Mae. Growing up, he was quiet, enjoyed working on the family farm and often stopped his younger siblings from getting in trouble. He received his fundamental education in Conway, Arkansas,. On April 4, 1951, Eligah enlisted in the United States Army. While serving his country, he earned a KSM medal w/3 Service Stars and a United Nations Service Medallion. He served with honor and distinction and was honorable discharged. Eligah united in holy matrimony to the former Margaret E. Shields. To this union, a daughter they named Rochelle was born. The family enjoyed taking road trips together. Rochelle remembers her dad as a modest man but one who would remind her "he is the father." He later wed, Edna Gibbs and with this union, he became the step father of Al C. Diamond. The family shared many happy and precious moments together. He was later blessed with grandchildren, Terrill, LaTreasha, Keyynna, Edward, Tyrone, Clent, Jr., Princess and CeCe, who all were an additional source of joy and pride in his life. They lovingly called him "Pops" and fondly remember him telling them for most of their life that "he was 12 years old and they were old because he was young." By profession, Eligah was employed by Amtrack as a Car Inspector. He was hard¬working, dedicated and performed his duties with superior excellence. His co-workers called him "Willie." He retired after many years of faithful and dedicated service. Eligah was a member of Peaceful Rest Baptist Church. He was also a Mason. In his free time, he enjoyed watching western movies, spending quality time with family and friends, and taking long walks in the park. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful man. To know Eligah was to love him. Eligah Williams departed this life on December 25, 2016, in Aurora, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include his daughter, Rochelle A. (Clent) Wallace of Aurora; his step-son, Al C. Diamond of Denver; 1 brother, Benny F. Williams of Joliet, IL; 3 sisters, Rosetta Miller, Corean Williams and Ocie Mae Williams all of Kansas City, KS; 11 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; granddaughter, Valerie Ross; a sister in law, Dorothy Williams of Kansas City, Kansas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
