Edward William Evans Jr. was born on February 6, 1953 in Dermott, Arkansas to his parents, Edward Evans, Sr. and Thelma Tatum Phason. He was the second child born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, Larry, Clarence and his sisters, Rochelle, Sue, Sharon, Beverly, and Deborah. Edwards family and friends lovingly called him, Ed, a nickname that would stick with him all of his life. Growing up, Ed was very athletic; he loved playing basketball. He received his formal education in Denver, Colorado. Ed met and united in holy matrimony to Patricia Halfacre. To this union, a handsome son was born, Isaac. The marriage ended, but they remained friends. Later, Ed was blessed with four grandchildren, Talisa, Jasmine, Isaac, and Faith were an additional source of joy and pride in his life. They loved and adored him so they affectionately they called him, "Grandpa." A man of faith and belief in the Lord, Ed accepted the Lord as his personal savior and was baptized at an early age at Union Baptist Church. Ed "Grandpa" also loved and enjoyed every bit of time he had with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Also spent a lot of time reading, listening to music, watching sports, dancing, and drawing. Ed loved helping people. Isaac remembers his dad being the greatest man he knew. He was articulate and well spoken. His smile was warm and loving. Dad was very passionate about his family. He loved me and he will be deeply missed.
