While in the Coast Guard, Edward served 18 months in Vietnam and was stationed at Governors Islands in New York. He was able to travel the world while serving time in the Coast Guard. He received numerous awards and citations for his meritorious service. He served with honor and distinction and was honorably discharged after over twenty years of service. Edward also was a Golden Glove Boxer, who trained to be part of the Olympics. Edward united in holy matrimony to the former, Frances K. Robertson. They first met in Denver, Colorado at a mutual friends Super Bowl party. To this union, a beautiful baby girl they named April was born. He was also the proud father of Edward, Jr., Gayle, Rochelle, and Keith. He was a loving and devoted husband and father, whose pride and joy was the care and nurture of his family. He was later blessed with eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. They too have many happy and memorable moments of time shared together. Edward was a man who worked hard and was diligent in his pursuits. After leaving the Coast Guard, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia to work for The Miller Brewing Company as a Regional Sales Manager. It was during this time, he became an Ordained Minister which allowed him to spread the Lords word. Edward became a Greyhound Bus Driver and made friends in all 50 states. He never met a stranger. He enjoyed driving buses so much that he decided to open his own trucking company called "Golden Nugget Trucking" in Denver, Colorado. During this time, Edward became a Letter Carrier for the US Postal Service and worked there for several years. He then decided to go to Bartending School and became a top Bartender at Baby Does in Denver. That led him to open up the "famous" Fast Eddies Roller Skating Rink, where he was the Owner and Founder of the hottest roller skating rink in Denver; located in the Dahlia Shopping Center in Park Hill. Fast Eddies was the place to be in the 80's. Edward enjoyed the skating rink so much he decided to open a night club around the corner, which was called "Club Shalamar" where the "Elite met." Since Edward knew the entertainment scene so well, he became a Promoter and a Producer. He was the Owner/Founder of Hi-Dot Records and Blue-House Productions, where he brought some of the biggest names to Denver from Bobby Blue Bland, Denise LeSalle, Johnny Taylor, local favorite artist such as Ricky Earl, Tommy Thomas, Sammie Mayfield, Howard Bomar, Ed "Mr. Wonderful" Wingfield and many other great legends. Edward always had a passion for cooking BBQ. His Uncle Buck taught him how to BBQ at the age of 9. That passion led him to Brendan's Pub in LODO (lower downtown Denver) where he had people lined up from all over to taste his BBQ. Soon Edward outgrew the kitchen at Brendan's Pub and he had to open his own restaurant. He started with a mobile cart on 58th and Washington and once he outgrew the BBQ cart, he opened a restaurant. Edwards's dream of having his own BBQ restaurant became true, when he opened Uncle Buck's Famous BBQ in Montbello in 2003. People would line up out the door for his beef brisket, smoked meats and rib tips. Ed had such a passion for BBQ, he began making his own sauces and spices that were sold in a few markets including Tony's Market. While operating the restaurant, Edward began working on his first published book "Tracks From My Heart." He loved to write and express himself. Edward wrote another book, "Keep Your Eye on the Sparrow" that book was sold on Amazon. Edward then decided to retire from BBQ and start riding motorcycles. His dear friend, Chicago taught him how to ride motorcycles and that became his passion. Ed's first motorcycle club was the Long Range Riders, were he quickly worked his way up to become Vice President. Ed enjoyed his brothers in the Long Range Riders but he decided to start his own club. He was the President and Founder of the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club, Mile High Chapter. He truly loved the buffalo soldiers and was so proud to be the President. Every year, he rode to the National Association of Buffalo Soldiers and Troopers Motorcycle Club's Annual Convention. He won the yearly High Mileage Award for riding his motorcycle across country. Everyone was so impressed that he would ride his Honda Gold Wing Motorcycle across Country every year for the motorcycle conventions. Ed knew bikers all around the USA. They all had the utmost respect for him. Edward was known to the bikers as "Music Man." His bike always had a massive sound system and he always played the best music from old school to new school. Edward loved his gold wing but he recently bought a brand new Indian Vintage motorcycle and was able to travel to several states. Most recently, Ed got into comedy and was known as "Old Skool G." He has opened for numerous headliners including, Derrick Rush and he has done standup comedy at the Denver Improv and the Comedy Works. Edward was a fun loving man, who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, cooking, reading, researching, fishing, meeting new people, helping others, volunteering, writing, learning and spending quality time with family and friends. His closest friends, David "Chicago" Williams, who taught him how to ride a motorcycle, David Royal in Atlanta and Yvonne Welch, a childhood friend that helped him edit his second book, along with all the Buffalo Soldiers, will miss the camaraderie's they all shared together.
