Eddie Alfonso Heaggs, Sr. was born December 16, 1941, to the late Henry Heaggs and Ivory C. Day in Houston, Texas. At an early age, the family traveled the world with his father while serving in the military. Educated in the Harris County School System, Eddie graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1959. He continued his education at the LeNotre Culinary Institute in Houston, Texas. He later met and married Yvonne McGautha and to this union four children were born, two daughters and two sons. Later, Eddie married Katherine Wilson and became the father of two more daughters and two sons. Eddie was employed with BG Maintenance at Denver Stapleton International Airport and Denver International Airport, until he retired on October 13, 2005. Family and friends were very important to Eddie. He embraced everyone with his relaxed, and easy demeanor, beautiful smile and infectious laughter. He loved to travel, bowl, spent many hours playing cards and dominoes. You could always catch him at the lake in the summer with a fishing pole. He enjoyed cooking, traveling, and entertaining guest in his home. He would cook a daily feast and feed everyone. Casual visits were the norm, family and friends showing up on any day at any time because they knew a hot meal was prepared an on the table waiting. He inspired family and friends alike. Eddie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Eddie Alfonso Heaggs departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on January 2, 2015. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife and best friend, Katherine Heaggs, Denver, Colorado. The joy of his life, his children, four daughters, Lee Moore and Renee Heaggs of Houston, Texas, Charlette Roberts, Tamika Wylie (Terence) all of Aurora, Colorado; his four sons, Eddie Heaggs Jr. (Debra) and John Otis Heaggs, Houston, Texas, Tony Wilson (Charlene) and Charles Roberts, Jr. (Jeanette) all of Aurora, Colorado; 31 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; his aunt, Ivory C. Wilson and a host of other relatives and many, many friends.
