Eddie Bibbs

Eddie C. Bibbs, Sr. was born on December 21, 1930, to Jessie Bibbs and Annie Mae Jordan Bibbs in Cleveland, Mississippi. He was the only child born to this couple. As a child, Eddie grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. He received his early education in Kansas City. On January 19, 1948, at the age of 18, Eddie enlisted in the United States Navy. He wanted to see the world. One of his duty stations was in Kansas. While in Kansas, he met the love of his life that would become his wife. On January 15, 1955, he married Ruth Marie Booker. In 1956, Eddie was honorably discharged from the Navy and moved his bride to Kansas City, Missouri. The couple wanted children and subsequently had three, Cynthia, Denise and Eddie Jr. Eddie was employed by the US Post Office. In 1964, he moved his family to Denver, Colorado. Another child was added to the family, Tyree. He continued to work for the US Post Office until the early 1970's. After leaving the Post Office, Eddie joined the Denver Sheriff Department. Eddie was employed as a Deputy Sheriff until he retired in the 1990's. Family was very important to Eddie and he always made sure they were cared for. He loved to travel with his wife and frequently made road trips. Eddie was an avid Denver Broncos fan and looked forward to watching the games during football season. He also enjoyed chatting with his long-time friend, Melvin Lawrence, who refereed to Eddie as "Sweet Eddie". In August 2016, Eddie's health began to fail. He was hospitalized until December 30, 2016. On December 31, 2016, he was called home by our heavenly Father at the time of his passing he was surrounded by family. His preceded in death by a son, Eddie Bibbs, Jr.; his parents, Jessie and Annie Mae Bibbs. Eddie is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruth M. Bibbs; 2 daughters, Cynthia G. Sims, and Denise M. Revere all of Denver; his son, Tyree W. Bibbs of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren, Conrad Gardner, Dawn Bibbs, Eddie (Deidra) Bibbs, III, Kaleea Sims, and Terence Bibbs; 3 great grandchildren, Terence Jr., Aniyla and Jacob Bibbs; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
