Earnest Dean Campbell was born on March 10, 1939, in Scooba, Mississippi to his parents, Henry Campbell, Sr. and Mary Harrison Campbell. He was the fourth child born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, Henry, Jr., Cornelius, and his sisters, Katherine, Bernice, Margie and Flora. As a child, Earnest carried a jovial personality and was quite the jokester. He often played practical jokes on his sister, Margie and other family and friends. Earnest accepted the Lord as his personal savior when he was twelve years old. He was baptized at the Sunny Mt. Giles Baptist Church in Scooba, Mississippi. He served as a Usher for a number of years. He truly enjoyed the fellowship with his church family. Earnest received his formal education by attending the Kemper County School District located in Scooba, MS. A fond school memory was that of Earnest getting his driver's license so that he and his friend, Johnny Rencher could go joy riding. On December 12, 1964, Earnest united in holy matrimony to the former Artie Mae Gilcrease. They exchanged vows in Denver, Colorado. To this union, Earnestine and Sheila were born. He was also the proud father of Windall, Earnest, and Brenda. He was later blessed with his grandchildren: Carla, Brittany, Taneshia, Darrell, and Ramaro who all were an additional source of joy and pride in his life. They lovingly called him "PaPa" and fondly remember all the happy and precious moments they all shared together. He also has great grandchildren, Jalen, Jae-da, Kiel and Da'Zure who fondly remember the piggy back rides, the trips to McDonald's, and him playing games with them. Earnest has always been a disciplined hard worker. This was a trait he learned from his father. When he relocated to Denver, he became employed by the Rainbow Bread Company. He was hard-working, dedicated; he worked well with his co-workers. He remained with the company for 42 years. Earnest was a fun loving man who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he enjoyed playing bingo, card games, and spending quality time with family and close friends. He loved the special moments with his grandchildren, and he also enjoyed listening to jazz music. His closest friend, Johnny Rencher, will miss the camaraderie they shared together and the fact that he was a true and trusted friend. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful man who loved telling jokes and was a devoted family man. To know Earnest was to love him. On April 19, 2015, Earnest Dean Campbell answered his call from the Lord in his home in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include his wife, Artie Mae Campbell of Aurora; two sons, Windall Armour and Earnest G. Campbell; three daughters, Earnestine Campbell, Sheila L. Campbell all of Aurora, and Brenda Dansby-Bryant of Scooba, MS; two brothers, Cornelius Campbell of Atlanta, GA and Henry (Ida) Campbell, Jr. of Phoenix, AZ; his grandchildren, Brittany M.
