Earl Wilbert Winters was born on April 5, 1941, Cairo, Illinois to his parents, Earl Walton Winters and Curtis Evelyn Farley Winters. He was the second child born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his sisters, Annette and Alberta. In 1943, the family relocated to Chicago, Illinois where "Pete" as he was affectionately called by family and friends received his formal education and graduated from high school. He furthered his education by attending DeVry Institute, earning a certification in electronics. Earl was the proud father of nine beautiful children, Curtis, Bernard, Earl, Lucina, Billy, Namona, Mischelle, Maurice, and Marlo. He later became the grandfather of seventeen grandchildren; and five great grandchildren who were an additional source of joy and pride in his life. They all shared many happy and precious moments together. In 1977, Earl moved to Denver, Colorado and became employed by the Suntrand Corporation. His co-workers and employers remember him as being hard working and dependable. He worked well with others and performed his duties with a spirit of excellence. He retired in 1993, and remained in communication with many of his former co-workers. A man of faith and belief in the Lord, Earl was baptized at a very early age alongside his father at Shiloh Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois by the late Dr. W.W. Taylor. Upon relocating to Denver, he joined Greater St. John Baptist Church. He served his church and the Lord as member of the Men's Ministry. He worked faithfully until his health began to decline. He was an excellent cook and participated each year in the 100 Men that Cook in Denver. Earl was a fun loving man who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he enjoyed playing bid whiz and in his own mind, he knew he was the best player. He was also an active member of the Grand Slammer Bridge Club and Rocky Mountain Pinochle Association. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this "one of kind guy" who lived life to the fullest. To know Earl was to love him. His light has shown brightly and he leaves a void that can never be filled. He is preceded in death by three children, Earl, Lucina and Marlo; his parents, Earl and Curtis Winters. Earl Wilbert Winters departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on August 2, 2013, in Aurora, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory include 4 sons, Curtis D.
