EARL MELVIN BUTCHER, aka Earl the Pearl the Mechanic, Bro', Dad, Pops, was born September 25, 1951, and raised in Denver, Colorado by his loving parents, Charles and Harriet Butcher. He was the youngest of three children.
Earl learned of God, attending Sunday School, VBS and then accepting Jesus Christ as his Savior at the age of 12 being confirmed here at Peoples Presbyterian Church. Earl was educated in Denver Public Schools; Columbine Elementary, Cole Junior High, graduating Manual High School class of 1970. Although he would spend weeks in the hospital with asthma, he enjoyed athletics. His activities included cross-country, swimming, and track – lettering and selected for M-Club. Members of this elite group stressed good sportsmanship, character, and fellowship. He was a member of Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA), a career and technical student organization, he competed in events, focusing on business principles. He continued his education at Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado majoring in business.
October 29, 1977, Earl married Linda and to their union, they were blessed with two children, Marcus and Alexandria who he was proud of and always kept in his heart. Throughout his life, he remembered and cherished his children. Earl's life calling was a mechanic; he was very handy, he could fix anything. He spent his childhood taking things apart -putting them back together again. Can he fix it? Yes, he can. No task was too large or too small; he would diagnose, problem solves, and work through it, in all seasons.
Earl's primary employers include Bill Ross Automotive; Lowry AFB shop as a Master Mechanic, helping enlisted and NCO's maintain their personal vehicles; Denver Public Schools at the Hilltop shop; USPS on Quebec; and Subaru dealership on Havana. Eventually an entrepreneur, doing his best in the wake of transitions of society from bargaining units and union sympathizers being starved out; impacting the way he took care of his lifestyle. He fought the good fight, he finished the race, he kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:6-8.
Earl Butcher is also preceded in death by his parents, Charles Butcher, Sr. and Harriet Butcher. He leaves to cherish his memory: his children, Marcus of Studio City, CA and Alexandria of Yorba Linda, CA along with grandson Riley; brother Charles of St. Croix USVI, sister Angela (Thomas) Reid; stepmother Whitney Butcher; aunts Mary Butcher, Gladys Kemp, Clarice Lee, Authoree Wilson, Berteal Greene, Mercy Butcher, Geraldine Spears, and Arletha Butcher; Uncle Lawrence; Linda Butcher; and a host of cousins and friends.
