Ervin Winston Yearling was born June 18, 1952, in Denver, Colorado. "Winston" as the family and friends so lovingly called him, was the youngest son, and the seventh child born to the union of Illinois Yearling, Sr. and Minnie Lou Hobley Yearling. He attended Denver Public Schools: Barrett Elementary, Gove Junior High, and East High Schools. Gifted intellectually, Winston trained to be an electrician, but was unable to fully carry out his vocation, due to a number of unfortunate circumstances, including losing his vision as a young adult. Winston joined Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and remained a member until his death. A visionary, he initiated the Uptown Daily Bread Ministry, which Winston coordinated with Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church. The Uptown staff looked forward to picking up their copies from him. Many expressed their appreciation of this ministry and him sharing the Lord with them. Winston had many talents including braille, singing, and playing piano by ear. He also utilized his musical gifts to organize, teach music, and play for youth choirs in the different cities where he resided. As a young adult, Winston met and married Martha. This marriage was later dissolved. Later, Winston found great friendship in his companion, Esther. As time grew, Winston united with Uptown Health Care Center in Denver which not only coordinated his care, but also served as his residence. Winston was preceded in death by his parents, Illinois Yearling, Sr. and Minnie Lou Yearling; his brothers, Willie T., Illinois Jr., Robert, and Mylous; his brother-in-law, J. D. Burnett; and infant sister, Rosie. Ervin Winston Yearling departed this life December 29, 2014, in Denver, Colorado.
