Dwayne Richard Campbell was born on April 21, 1964, in Denver, Colorado to his parents, Willie Campbell, Jr. and Florence E. McGregor-Marshall. He was the first child born to this union, and was the older brother of Robert Thompson. His family and friends called him, "Slick." From his youth, Slick was about becoming a business man. "Dreamed Out Loud In Action" As a teenager, Slick and his friends developed a pact to call themselves, "The Cool Patrol." With this pact, The Cool Patrol had to be respectful in school, in sports, and active in the community. While attending Montbello High School in Denver, Colorado, he would strive to always do his best and by his actions, sway others to take pride in what they did. Slick graduated in 1982. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in 1983. During his prior marriages, three beautiful children were born Damale, Dante and Darius. The family loved being close and spending time together. His children remember him as a motivator, caring, and vibrant. In 1996, Slick met Vanessa Lovelace in Denver, Colorado. In 2009, after 19 years of friendship, the two would finally marry on September 1, 2015, in Denver, Colorado. Vanessa remembers their serious talks about building a catering company. Slick is the stepfather of April, Ashley, Romeo, Michael, David, Marquez, and Kal'Liah. He was blessed with 7 step grandchildren, Xavier, Makenzie, Kelise, Kivante', Ka'Mia, Amari, and Sy'Uri. They loved their grandfather so much, they called him, "PaPa Snickers", remembering him being funny, loving and a great teacher of life. They will all miss, PaPa Snickers. Slick was a hardworking man. Working for the Denver Police Department for a short time, his entrepreneur spirit took over; he was truly a professional entrepreneur. He owned Campbell's Transport Trucking Company, and was the CEO of Hot Mamma's Kitchen, a catering company. With a never quit attitude and a mindset of, "If there's a will, there's a way," Slick excelled. He was the Positive Officer for the Masons Rocky Mountain Lodge #1. In his free time, Slick loved chilling with his best friend, Alvin "Smiley," and friends, Brett, Luther, Bates, Walter, Ishmil, Andre, Randy, Reggie, and Mooney. They will all miss the fun they shared, his great sense of humor, and his constant positive attitude. He would proclaim that he was "Mr. Fine." Dwayne was preceded in death by his son, Darius Campbell, and his father, Willie Campbell, Jr. Dwayne Richard Campbell departed this life on January 3, 2016 at his home in Denver, Colorado surrounded by his family and friends. He leaves a wealth of great family and honorable friends who will love and honor him as if he were still present. These include his beloved wife, Vanessa V. Campbell, Denver; his children, Dante' R. Campbell, Denver, Damale' K. (Thomas Turner) Campbell, Aurora; his beloved mother, Florence E. McGregor Marshall, Aurora; his beloved brother, Robert Thompson, Jr., Houston, Texas; his stepchildren, April Wilson, Ashley Smith, both of Birmingham, AL, Romeo Lovelace, Michael Lovelace, David Lovelace, Marquez (Samiah) Lovelace and Vanessa K. Parrish, all of Denver; devoted cousin, Barbara Ann Harris, Aurora, devoted friend, Alvin E. "Smiley" Terrell, Denver, 7 step grandchildren; a host of other cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
