Dorthy Jones

The life of Dorthy Mae Jones began in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on April 6, 1941, to the union of Gentle Steward and Lizzie Johnson. She was the third of six children in the family. Later in life (1956) she met and married the love of her life Charles Jones and to their union they were blessed and had thirteen children: Brenda, Gloriadean, Janis, Charlene, Charles Jr, Bertha, Jimmy, Louise, Roy, Terry, Andrew, Trashaundrah, Marvin and a step-son Charles Hughley. Dorthy was a caregiver, her dedication to family was so strong that she also helped raise grandkids, great-grandkids and kids throughout the neighborhoods. A woman of great faith, Dorthy was a member of New Saint James M.B.C in Pine Bluff Arkansas until 1958. In 1965 she moved to Denver Colorado and atteneded Macedonia M.B.C then later became a member of Bethlehem M.B.C until the Lord called her home. Dorthy will always be remembered for her many words of wisdom. We will always cherish them. We shall never forget: "When your children are young they're on your lap, when they're old they are on your heart". Dorthy was very loyal, faithful and strong willed. Her deep beauty can be described as glamorous and her smile was genuine. She loved her children intensely, and was committed to loving her family. In addition she extended this gift to her grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews and many others. She was preceded in death by her parents Gentle Steward and Lizzie Johnson, Husband Charles Jones Sr., Loving daughter Gloriadean Jones and son Marvin Jones. Battles, and Vester L.(Rufus)Grandy, all of Pine Bluff, AR , Five Sister-in-laws, Bertha Davis and Lafayette Alston, Omaha, NE, Lou Bertha Whittley and Dora Jones, both of Denver CO, Versie Lee Rouse, Kansas City, MO, Eleven children Brenda F.(Eddie C)Ricks, Pine Bluff, AR, Janis D.(Charles) Doss, Charlene(Louis) Williams, Charles L.(Yvonne) Jones, Bertha M.(Cordell) Lovett, Jimmy L.(Andrea)Jones, Louise Jones, Roy L.(Tracy) Jones, Terry L.(Chonda) Jones, Andrew L.(Jamelia)Jones, Trashaundrah N.(Tom Davis)Jones, and Charles D. Hughley, all of Denver; (27) Grandchildren and (21) Great Grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. When we leave here carry in your hearts the assurance that she fought a good fight, she finished her course, kept the faith and received her CROWN in Glory.
