Doris Palmer

Doris Nell Palmer was born on October 15, 1936, in Amarillo TX, to her parents, Johnny Green, Sr. and Gussie Mae Flemmings Green. She was the oldest of six children born to this union. She was raised surrounded by the love of her grandmother "MaMa" and her siblings, Ethel, Johnny, Jr., Ray, Luther and Robert. Being the oldest of the six, this left her assisting in being caretaker and provider of her siblings. Doris attended school in Amarillo Texas, where she received her formal education. She relocated to Hobbs, New Mexico; there she met and later married, Thomas R. Palmer. She was the proud mother of four daughters, Debra, Sharlot, Sonja, Toni, and a son, Thomas. The family shared many happy and precious moments together. One memory that comes to mind was that of the family driving across country during summer vacations. By profession, Doris was employed by Blue Cross & Blue Shield in Denver, Colorado. She was hard working and dedicated. She retired after thirty-years of dedicated work. Doris was a lover of life and enjoyed every bit of it; some of her hobbies included cooking, bowling, watching the cooking channel, staying up on current and foreign events, listening to music and most of all, talking locally and nationally on the CB Radio. She adopted the name, "Lady Space Needle." Doris established many loving relationships and touched the hearts of many people around the world. Doris was a fun loving woman, who loved and was loved by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a very strong and courageous woman, who endured health challenges these last few years, but she fought and fought until the end. Her strength and courage has inspired many and she will be remembered forever. Doris had a love for family and friends that was unconditional She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her. She is preceded in death by her mother, Gussie Mae Flemmings; her father, Johnny Green Sr.; two brothers, Johnny Green and Ray Green; and a sister, Nina M. Jackson. Doris Nell Palmer departed this life and transitioned to the other side on November 9, 2014, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss include her children, Debra Ann (Mathis) Wright, of Houston, TX., Sharlot Yvonne (Marvin) Smith, Sonja Jamesette Palmer, Toni Renae Palmer, Thomas R. Palmer all of Denver, CO; two sisters, Ethel (Joe) Wilson Of Brazil IN and Diane (Terry) Wright of Los Angeles, CA; five brothers, Luther Green, of Fresno, CA., Robert Green of Seattle, WA, Billy Earl Green of Los Angeles, CA. Connie (Cherrie) Green of Killen TX., Bobby (Lydia) of Cameron, TX; five grandchildren, Cameishea, Daryon, Sheree, Enjoli, and Premore; five great grandchildren, Najae, Zryare, London, Bronze, Shiloh and a host of other relatives and many friends.
