As beautiful as a rose to see, was her life she lived so gracefully. She made things precious by her touch; her selfless love lives in each of us. The petals of her life fell one by one; each a gift of her heart till there were none. Yet her radiance blooms once again in fields of glory with no end.
Donna Jean Tunson was born on February 28, 1955 in Denver, Colorado to her parents Cleta Cardell Tunson and Jimmie Grady Tunson. She was blessed to be the ninth of eleven children born to this union. As a native of Denver, Donna spent her entire life in Colorado.
Donna received her formal education through Denver Public Schools, she attended Mitchell and Harrington Elementary Schools, Smiley Middle School, and a true Raven at heart, graduated from South High School in 1973.
Donna discovered her passion in cosmetology, she became a professional cosmetologist with much versatility and continued to improve throughout her career. She worked at M&M Hair Haven where everyone knew that was the place to go, if you were looking for a top-of-the-line makeover.
To know Donna was to know that she was a woman of faith, she felt so blessed to have discovered the Lord for herself and gained membership at Bethsaida Temple, under the leadership of Bishop Earl O. Holiman, Sr D.D. where she wore many hats. Regardless of how big or small the task was, she was dedicated to get things done, in the spirit of the Lord.
Donna enjoyed spending time with family, she ensured to be at all of her family’s events. In her free time she also enjoyed shopping, and knew how to get the best deals even if it took her all day to find the one thing she was looking for.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Cleta Cardell Tunson and Jimmie Grady Tunson; siblings, Jimmie Jr., Clenton, J.D., Barbara, Thelma, Clarice, and Dianne.
Donna departed this life on July 4, 2021. Her welcoming spirit, generous heart and impactful legacy will continue to live on through all who were blessed to have known her. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, LaDonna Oliver; brother, Johnny Tunson, grandchildren, Donovan Shelton, Darrion Rouse and Dorrian Rouse; great-grandchildren, Daneasha Shelton and Divine Shelton; her best friend Sylvia Wyatt, additional relatives and many friends.
