Donna Reagor

September 7, 1932 — March 9, 2018

Donaè (Donna) Jean Reagor was born September 7, 1932, in Monticello, Arkansas; she was the firstborn child of Alvin Edgar Lee and Mattie Lee Spencer. Growing up in Arkansas Donna enjoyed spending summer vacations with her paternal grandmother and socializing with her friends. Donna attended Elementary School in Lacey, Arkansas and graduated from Drew High School in Monticello, Arkansas at the age of 16. She is an alumna of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (formerly Arkansas AM&N College). Donna moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1950. There she met the love of her life William Beverly Reagor, Sr. In 1955, they were united in holy matrimony and later moved to Denver, CO. Three children, Anthony Martin Spencer, William Beverly Reagor II and Rhonda Diane Reagor Johnson, brought joy and happiness to her life. Three important principles: faith, family, and friends served as the guiding compass for Donna’s life. Her faith guided her to become a member of Mt Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as an Usher, Sunday School Superintendent, Church Clerk and Chairman of the Finance Committee for many years. In March 1987 she became a member of Peaceful Rest Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board and Finance Committee. After retiring from her Church duties due to deteriorating health, she was unable to attend church services. Donna’s name was then placed on the Prayer Request, Visiting Communion, and Sick and Shut-in lists. Donna was employed by the Denver Public Schools (DPS) system and for over 35 years in the Medical Records Department at the University of Colorado Health Science Center, Denver, Colorado. There she cultivated many acquaintances and friends. Donna enjoyed and loved hosting others in her home. She would frequently entertain large gatherings and dinners for family and friends, as cooking was one of her favorite hobbies. With an open heart and a giving spirit, she shared her home as temporary housing for siblings, nephews, and friends. Also, Donna enjoyed watching soap operas with husband and her lifelong sister/friend, Alice Gross. Her favorite soap opera was Days of Our Lives. Upon the death of her parents she took up the mantle of matriarch for the family. Her goal was to ensure that the family remained closely bonded. As a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and relative of many, her tenacity for, love of, and dedication to “The Family” will be truly missed. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin Edgar Lee and Mattie Lee Spencer, her son, William Beverly Reagor II; and her granddaughter, Janessa Spencer. Donna Jean Reagor departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on March 9, 2018, in Denver, Colorado.
