Donald Craft, Sr.

Donald Ray Craft, Sr. was born on August 21, 1950, in Denver, Colorado to his parents, Charles Villen Craft, Sr. and Emma Mae Luter Craft. He was the third of eight children born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, Donnie, Richard, Ronnie, Charles and his sisters, Charlene, Arlene and Gaynell. Growing up, Donald was very athletic, played the drums and enjoyed entertaining. Donald received his early education in Denver, where he graduated from East High School. He held the State Track Record for the 100 Meter Dash while in high school and he later tried out for the Denver Broncos. He furthered his education by attending McPherson College in McPherson, Kansas. On March 25, 1977, Donald enlisted in the United States Navy. He was stationed in San Diego, California and Key West, Florida. While serving his country, Donald earned a Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon. He served with honor and distinction and was honorably discharged. On June 22, 1977, Donald united in holy matrimony to the former, Grace Harlan. To this union, two children, Donna Rynee and Donald, Jr., were born. He was later blessed with five grandchildren Kyahn, Keaura, Kenya, Channing, and Nash, who were an additional source of joy and pride in his life. By profession, Donald was employed by the United States Postal Service as Supervisor for BMC Station. He was hard-working, dedicated and performed his duties with a spirit of excellence. He was a supervisor, who led by example. He would never ask of anyone to perform a task that he wouldn't first do himself. Donald was a fun loving man, who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he enjoyed spending quality time with family. His closest friends, Michael Parks, Ronnie Curtis, Virgil and Jimmy Lewis, will miss the camaraderie's they all shared together and the fact that he was a true and trusted friend. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful man. To know Donald was to love him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Emma Craft, Sr.; a brother, Charles V. Craft, Jr., and a sister, Arlene Johnson. Donald Ray Craft, Sr. departed this life on August 11, 2016, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include his son, Donald R. (Savanah) Craft, Jr. of Aurora, Colorado; his daughter, Donna R. Miller of Rex, Georgia; 3 brothers, Donnie (Terrie) Craft, Richard Craft and Ronnie Craft all of Aurora; 2 sisters, Gaynell (Willie) Price of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Charlene (Willie) Seymore of Denver; 5 grandchildren, Kyahn Miller, Keaura Tinch, Kenya Tinch, Channing Craft and Nash Craft, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
