On June 3, 1957 in Kansas City MO, Denise was the second child born to the union of Russell C Cole Jr and Nina J. Johnson. She was a bright star among her three siblings Sherry, Laquita and Victor. When Denise, affectionally known as Niecy, was 12 years old the family relocated to Denver CO. She attended Northglenn Middle School and graduated from Ranum High School in 1975.

Niecy was a beautiful, intelligent and determined woman who loved life. Following high school she explored different jobs to learn, accomplish, and find out what she enjoyed. For her the sky was the limit. She was an excellent seamstress and used her skill at Jerry's Sports assembling jackets.

On November 19,1994, Niecy married the love of her life, Raymond Johnson Jr. They created a loving combined family which included Niecy's son Anthony Grayson, and Raymond's daughter's Diane, Renee, Kim and Kelly. They were also an important part of her nephew, Michael Ford's life. She became the hardest working loyal homemaker anyone has ever known. She created a beautiful home where good food, style, love and warmth was in abundant supply. She had a green thumb in the care of her plants. Niecy and Raymond enjoyed traveling together as well as with her dad, they were known as the "Road Runners" They enjoyed dancing, music, entertaining and watching football. Niecy joined Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church in 1998. She loved the Lord and served him until she passed.

Family was priority. Niecy was a gifted cook and baker. The family looked forward to gatherings where fun, food and fellowship was the order of the day. She had a great sense of humor and she had the ability to reach for your hand and touching your heart. Her caring, compassion was respected and depended on by family and friends.

Denise was proceeded in death by her mother Nina J. Jackson and her step-daughter Diane Johnson. Left to cherish in her memory is her husband of over 25 years Raymond Johnson Jr, her son Anthony Grayson, her father Russell C Cole Jr, her siblings Sherry Cole, Laquita (David) Givens, Victor Cole, Stacey Anderson, Patricia Johnson, Johnnie Mae; Sister and Brother in law Carol West, Jenni and Richard Johnson; Grandchildren Jacob, Jonah, Jessica, Jean, Jacob, Shemara, Ashleigh, Denise, Yani; Step-daughters Renee, Kelly, an Kim Johnson; Nieces and Nephew Taniesha (Lovell) Mariney, Natasha (Middell) Harper, Greg (Claire) Cole, Russell (Chelsea) Givens, Aisia, Ebony, Alexis Chanel, Stacy Jr.; a host of great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, other relatives and devoted friends
