Demetrial Smith

January 24, 1991 — December 2, 2021

Aurora, Colorado

Demetrial Shanequa Smith also know as “NE-NE” made her grand entrance into the world on January 24, 1991 in Thomasville, Georgia. She was born to her parents Adrennia Cassandra Smith Berry and Calvin Ellis Hadley, and was the second child born to this union.

The family resided in Thomasville, Georgia where they stayed until NE-NE was seven years old. They moved to Denver, Colorado for additional opportunities where she was further raised with her siblings, Demetruis Edward Antwon Smith and Brenda Shanice James who preceded her in death. NE-NE and her siblings were raised in a home filled with love, laughter and countless memories, she had a good relationship with her siblings and these relationships carried throughout the years.

NE-NE received her formal education through Denver Public Schools where she graduated from George Washington High School in 2009. She was an amazing, caring, and loving young lady who enjoyed life. NE-NE enjoyed talking on the phone and watching television. She could easily tell you the new t.v. shows that were coming out and even update you on any you may have missed. NE-NE loved Tyler Perry movies and sitcoms. Omarion was her favorite artist and she loved to sing all of his songs out loud.

One of NE-NE’s favorite things to do, was to call her grandmother, Brenda and godmother, Joann. Demetrial had so much love for her family, she would call and text them everyday just to check-in. She was always in tune with whatever was going on with her family and even kept up with their birthdays.

When she was ready for an outing, NE-NE often liked to go shopping. She was also known to create daily list of items that she needed, and had just the right words to convince her mother to get them for her. She loved going to the Dollar Tree, Five Below and Walmart.

NE-NE also liked to keep things tighty, she often cleaned, did laundry and kept up with the everyday household upkeep. If anything was not done, she ensured that her mother did not have to worry about it when she got home from work. NE-NE also worked with her stepfather, James to provide as much relief as possible for her mother, they knew that if she wasn’t happy, no one was.

NE-NE was employed for several years at McDonald’s. She worked under her mothers supervision and decided that she could no longer work with her mother. After working with her mother, NE-NE began attending day programs to keep herself busy away from home.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Brenda Shanice James; uncle, Troy Thomas and godbrother, Cedric Bernard.
