Delores Kibble

d. August 7, 2021

Denver, Colorado

As beautiful as a rose to see, was her life she lived so gracefully.  She made things precious by her touch; her selfless love lives on in each of us.  The petals of her life fell one by one; each a gift of her heart till there were none.  Yet her radiance blooms once again in fields of glory with no end.

Delores Kibble was born on May 13, 1957, in Monroe, Louisiana to her parents, Willie J Phillips and Marie Phillips. She was the first born in the family. She was raised surrounded by her brothers, James, Donald, John, David, Paul, and her sisters, Mary, Diane and Cynthia. As a child, she was happy and loved to cook. She enjoyed dancing, singing, and always glad when surrounded by her family.

The family eventually relocated to Denver, Colorado and Delores received her formal education by graduating from George Washington High School. On June 18, 1976, Delores wed, Richard E. Kibble.  They first met at Manuel High School.  They exchanged vows at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, in Denver, Colorado.  To this union, Quanise and Chonsey were born. They remember her as always supportive and encouraging no matter the circumstance. Her love was unconditional, and she always let them know how proud of them she was. They all shared many happy and precious moments together. Delores and Richard were married 50 years, when he preceded her in death.

Delores was the proud grandmother of Zhauntra, Melchazedaz, Zhaunise, Tamiah, India, Chonsey Jr., Javion, Idris; and 2 great grandchildren, Tra’Davius and Ziaire who all were an additional source of joy and pride in her life. They lovingly called her “Granny D” and fondly remember how much she loved them and how full of life she was. They loved dancing, spending quality time together and they loved her cooking.

Delores was a wife and mother who took great pride and joy in the care and nurture of her family.  A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, Delores was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. She joined the church under the pastoral leadership of Bishop Acen L. Phillips. She had been a member for over 50 years.

Delores was a fun-loving woman, who enjoyed life and those she encircled. In her free time, she enjoyed visiting “The Hills” where she played at Wild Card.  Her closest friend, Ms. Dorothy will miss the many comraderies they shared together and the fact that she was a true and trusted friend. She loved shopping, dressing up every day which included doing her hair and makeup. She always matched her whole ensemble, including her shoes, purses, and jewelry. She had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off of her back if you needed it. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful lady. To know Delores was to love her.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard E. Kibble; parents, Willie J. Phillips and Marie Phillips; and 3 brothers, Donald Phillips, John Phillips and David Phillips.

Delores Kibble departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on August 7, 2021, in Denver, Colorado.  Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss include 2 children, Quanise Kibble of Denver, Colorado, and Chonsey (Heather) Kibble of Fort Worth, Texas; 3 sisters,. Louise Phillips, Diane Phillips, and Cynthia Phillips; 2 brothers, James Phillips and Paul Phillips; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
