Deaconess Deborah Charita Jones was born on August 10, 1950, in Columbus, Georgia to her parents, Curtis Hardaway and Mary McCallister Hardaway. She was raised surrounded by her brothers, Jacuik, and Curtis. The family eventually relocated to Denver, Colorado and Deborah received her early education by attending East High School, where she graduated in 1968. She furthered her education by attending Metro State College in Denver.
Deborah united in holy matrimony to Willie Jones in Denver. To this union, a son Darius was born. Willie preceded her in death. Deborah and Dennis Moore were together for 25 years, during which time Derek Jones was born. She was a loving and devoted mother, who took great pride in the care and nurture of her sons. They all shared many happy and precious moments together.
She was later blessed with four grandchildren, Mya, Marcus, Alexandria, and Mercy, who all were an additional source of joy and pride in her life. They lovingly called her "Grandma Debbie" and fondly remember her making cookies, watching Jeopardy and shouting out the answers, going to watch "The Nutcracker" and just spending quality and memorable moments together.
By profession, Deborah was a Special Education Teacher for the Boulder Valley School District. She was an Educator, who cared about her students and believed in teaching them right from wrong. She genuinely loved them, and she touched many lives during her career.
A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, Deborah has been a faithful and dedicated member of Second Baptist Church. She has served her church and the Lord as a member of the Deaconess Board. She loved her church and fellowship shared with her church family. She had been a member for over thirty years.
Deborah was a fun-loving woman, who enjoyed life and those she encircled. In her free time, she enjoyed shopping, cheering for her grandchildren at their sporting events, watching her favorite Soaps, "All My Children & The Young and Restless." She was an avid Denver Bronco fan and she loved going to church. She was the type of person who never met a stranger. She had a laugh and smile that would light up any room she entered. She made everyone feel special and loved everyone unconditionally. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful woman. To know Deborah was to love her.
