Life's Journey
David Johnson
It is written that when life begins it is like an open book with many blank pages; each day that we live our deeds are recorded page by page until we close our eyes in death and await that great getting up morning. The pages of this book began for David Johnson on October 1, 1957, in Memphis, Texas. He was the eighth of eleven children born to the union of J.B. McFarland and Lola Mae Johnson. For many years, David thought his birthday was October the 3rd, but he celebrated from the 1st to 31st , so it really didn't matter!
David received his formal education in the Denver Public School system. As a teenager he was very popular and the house was always full with his friends.
David united with Sylvia Fleming who he often referred to as his wife and shared many years of love and laughter. They were inseparable. Sylvia fell ill and David cared for her until her passing in 2014. He was an avid Wrestling
and Denver Broncos fan and faithfully wore his Bronco jersey every Sunday to show his dedication to his team, win or lose.
He enjoyed spending time with his family & friends and his family will remember many happy and precious moments spent together throughout the
years. He was a dancing machine at every family function and was always the life of the party. You could tell when it was time for him to party because he often referred to himself as "Teddy Bear", his alter ego.One of his favorite saying was: "Who loves you like Teddy Bear?? Ya heard?!"
His boisterous personality and silly jokes will be
greatly missed by all who knew him.
We laughed HARD, loved HARD, and now
We Must Be STRONG
David was preceded in death by his father, J.B. McFarland and his mother, Lola Mae Johnson. Three brothers, Jesse Jr, Thomas C., and John L. Johnson; and one sister, Bonnie L. Johnson. Our Family is held together by bond. We are alike yet we are unalike, and somehow, we find comfort and peace in our differences. Family is family and we can't choose who shares our bloodline and all together we are still One.
Every second spent with our family is priceless, for the love of a family is life's greatest blessing.
The love between us will always be strong. Don't cry for me because I have my mother to welcome me home.
The final pages of David's book were written on Sunday, November 10, 2019. He leaves to cherish his memory three brothers, Charles B and Larry W. Johnson of Denver; and Elmus Fraizer Sr of Killeen, TX; Four sisters, Connie S. McGinnis of Tulia Texas, Juanita Smith of Garland Texas, Alice Faye Arkadie and Doris Johnson both of Denver.
