David Lester Brown was born on November 17, 1961, in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, to his parents, Howard Frederick Brown and Dorothy Elain Stewart. David was born into a large family with eight siblings including his brothers, Carl, Edward, John, Jerome, and sisters, Linda, Gloria, Sherry, and Sharon. As a youth, David’s family moved to Denver, Colorado, where he attended and graduated from Manual High School. Even then, David’s interest was in things that moved. He and his friend, David (another David) built their first car together. David loved his family through thick and thin. He would adopt friends as family and once you became family, you stayed family. Truly, outspoken, fun and adventurous, David would let you know the truth and he never pulled any punches. David was the proud and grateful father of three beautiful children, Amber, Blake and Samuel. With each of his children, he would parade around town showing them off to his friends and family. All David wanted to do was raise his children, and do it the right way. As he matured, he realized there was nothing more important, he would say, “I just want to do it right this time.” As years past, David would share many memorable moments with his children. When Amber graduated, she remembers her father showing up in a red Mustang that he drove from Denver to Texas just to celebrate her accomplishments. They had so much fun, he was so proud and grateful to be able to share this milestone with her. The family remembers, David calling them, bragging about Blake’s new job. He said, “My son has got his stuff together, and he is making moves.” David was just glad to be able to share this momentous occasion with his son, as their father and son relationship grew. Later, David was blessed with four grandchildren, who were the joys of his life, Chantz, Chase, Chandler, and Ashleigh. His passion became his profession. David started working with wood very early in life. His passion for precision and quality went unmatched. He stood by these words, “Quality materials was required if you want quality.” He did not do cheap wood work, if you wanted cheap, you would have to get someone else to do it. Whatever you wanted, a bookcase, a desk, a cutting board, a gunrack, cabinets, even doors, David could do it all and do it very well. He was so brilliant in that he could solve geometry problems in his head; AMAZING! He loved his tools; building, finding new ways to build things, and repairing things were his specialty. He loved the challenge. David felt blessed every day, his faith was certain in that he felt that God was going to bless him, he felt God would bless him at his core. He was a man who lived life fully believing that he should completely experience everything God created. He was determined to fully live his imagination with vigor, honesty, and caring. He was full of energy, loved to ride through the mountains, and go fishing. David’s relationships were highly charged, full of love and passion. Thoughtful, respectful, true, fun, serious, boisterous, caring, and sentimental, he was a man in touch with his emotions, and the needs of others. If you needed it, David was going to make sure you had it. He had a contagious laugh that infected everyone he was around. David enjoyed Auto Shows. He would spend hours in the Harley Davidson store, going to house openings, and looking for new technologies. He loved listening to cool jazz, old westerns, The Twilight Zone, and Alfred Hitchcock movies. He was a true football fan, when the season starts lookout, he knew every player’s name, their stats, rankings, and injury reports. His favorite team was the Raiders and he begrudged the Broncos. He would go to games in the freezing cold and wet, he had to see the games. David loved riding his Harley, the family was so worried about his passion for motorcycles. He had such a horrendous accident five years ago, but God pulled him through. His mother always cautioned him to wear his helmet and he did He loved his bike and the freedom it gave him to explore the world.
