Life of
DaVeon Michael Brooks
“Yonnie”

DaVeon Michael Brooks was born on February 23, 2001, at Aurora South Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado to his parents, Nicole A. Watts and Timothy R. Brooks, Sr. He was placed in the arms of his loving mother Nicole A. Watts, from that day, his mother felt nothing but happiness to look on his face. DaVeon was the first-born child of three children. He was surrounded with love at birth by a large family who would adoringly call him “Yonnie.” He was also the first grandchild of Peaches, who he would always tease and say he was going to be taller than her, and he accomplished that by several inches. DaVeon was also the first great-grandchild of the late Reverend Dr. H.A. Alexander, Sr. and Gloria Alexander, who made sure they covered him in prayer daily. Later, to add to his life were his siblings, RaJae and JaNai, whom he loved and protected. At a young age, DaVeon was embraced with love by his mother’s companion Damion, who enjoyed watching him play sports and was an active part of his life.

DaVeon received his formal education at Clayton Elementary School, where he began playing little league football with the Rams and the Mile-High Bulldogs. He continued his education at Englewood Middle School, where he discovered his love for boxing. He attended the TOS Boxing Gym and gained the nickname, “HERO” because he was able to keep up with the adults during the workouts. He Continued playing football with the Englewood Pirates and later joined the Creek Red Nation. While playing with Creek Red Nation, he earned the name, “Spidey” because of his long legs and his ability to jump over the tackling dummy with ease. He attended Cherokee Trails High School and played football for a year and completed his education at Thomas Jefferson High School, where he also played football.

From birth, DaVeon was a member of Bethesda Temple Church of God in Christ. In his infancy, he was dedicated back to Christ by the Late Reverend Dr. H. A. Alexander, Sr. Growing up in a musically inclined family, DaVeon gained a love for playing the drums. DaVeon was also active in the youth department and never hesitated to recite a scripture or a speech for the Christmas and Easter Programs.

Growing into adulthood, DaVeon loved working at Slim Chicken because he was able to be the cook. He enjoyed rapping and making his own music. He never shied away from reminding anyone, “I got bars.” One of his favorite pastimes was enjoying life with his girlfriend, Alyssa, who he referred to as his “wife.” DaVeon and Alyssa were excited and anticipating the arrival of their son, whom they planned to name Ezekiel Roman. Baby Ezekiel was born April 8, 2020, and in honor of DaVeon’s life, Alyssa gave him his father’s name Ezekiel Roman DaVeon.

DaVeon was known for his competitive nature and his infectious smile that would light up any room. He will be missed by all who loved him and will forever remain in our hearts.

DaVeon was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Reverend Dr. H.A. Alexander Sr.
