Darrelle Lynn Johnson was born in Lubbock, Texas on September 7, 1959 to the parents of Dimple Ruth Birdow-Johnson and Lee Allen Johnson. At the tender age of 3 months, Darrelle mother passed away. The boys were raised by a family of strong women. His 20 year old aunt, Bobbie Taylor, promised her sister, Dimple she would take care and raise her two sons, Darrelle and his 7 year old brother, Ray Charles. From Darrelle's youth, he considered Dennis and Dana Clarrett, and Michael and Regina Maxey to be his brothers and sisters. Darrelle attended Whitter Elementary, Morey Junior High, and George Washington High School where he participated in numerous school sports. After 11 years of dating, Darrelle and Margaret got married on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2012, which was one of Darrelle's proudest moments in life. Two loving souls united, learning together, and working to make each other better. Darrelle was the proud father of Jeffery, Tameka, Patrice, Aaron, Adrian, and Iberia. He was later blessed with 16 grandchildren, whom he loved and adored. Darrelle enjoyed spending time outdoors playing golf, camping, fishing, coaching, and refereeing little league football. Darrelle was an amazing cook and was known among his family for his famous Sunday dinners. Darrelle's life seemed too short to some, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of one's existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. To know Darrelle would be to love Darrelle. Darrelle was preceded in death by his parents of Dimple Ruth Birdow-Johnson. Darrelle Lynn Johnson departed this life on November 4, 2015 in Thornton, Colorado. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; six children, Jeffery, Tameka, Patrice, Aaron, Adrian, and Iberia; his brother, Ray C. Birdow; his aunt, who raised him, Bobbie Taylor; 16 grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, other close family members, and friends.
