Darrell Austin was born on November 22nd, 1965, the youngest of 7 children, born to his parents John Austin, Sr. and Shirley A. Moore. Being the baby of the family, he could do no wrong in his mother’s eye. She nicknamed him “Tiger” because of how active he was; he was always into something and always on the go.
“Tiger” was raised alongside his six siblings, Patricia, John, Michelle, Diedre, Kim, and Lisa. They recall their fondest memories of Darrell running around like the Roadrunner, making everybody laugh, having the biggest smile, and making it his personal mission to get all of them in trouble with their parents. The boy was just spoiled rotten! LOL!
Darrell matriculated through the Denver Public School system, graduating from Montbello High School in 1983. After completing high school, Tiger received certification from the Culinary School of Arts in Denver, Colorado. Cooking was his passion, and he shared his gift with those he loved every chance he got. At the time of his passing, he was the Manager at the Holiday Inn.
Tiger was blessed with a beautiful daughter, Kalani. As a child, she remembers her dad always admiring her beauty, giving the best hugs, and always tickling her. Time is precious and she wishes she had more of it with him.
In his spare time, Tiger enjoyed spending time with his family watching his favorite movie Sparkle and listening to music. His favorite song was Two Occasions by the Deele. Darrell was a joy to be around and a blessing to the lives he touched, he will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
Darrell “Tiger” Austin departed his life, into the arms of His heavenly Father on January 10, 2022. He is preceded in death by his father, John Austin, Sr. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his mother Shirley A. Moore; his daughter, Kalani (Nick) Austin-Worex; his brother, John Austin, Jr.; his sisters, Patricia L. (Alvis) Wiley, Michelle (Eugene) Lawrence, Diedre L.
