Damon Weyrough

September 30, 1978 — December 24, 2013

Damon Jontee Weyrough came into the world on September 30, 1978 smiling at his mom and fl irting with the attending nurses, making it apparent from the very start that he would alter our lives forever. Born to Roberta Jean Murdock and Dennis R. Weyrough, Damon was the first boy born to the family in over 20 years thus becoming an instant favorite, loved and doted on by his parents and many, many loving aunts, uncles, a sister, and those that he would later simply describe as "fam". As a young child, Damon's zest for life, flirtatious nature and the gift of never meeting a stranger, made him quite endearing to us all. He learned about and accepted Christ as his personal Savior as a member of Berkley Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Damon attended schools in Colorado, Wisconsin and California, attending two of the community's most prestigious institutions, Elijah's Muslim Educational Center and Wo'se Community Church School of Umoja, as well as Bret Harte Junior High and West Lake High, all located in California's bay area. He was also a gift ed athlete, running in track & fi eld events and playing football with the Colorado Springs Park & Rec Football Program, the Oakland Dynamites and the Richmond Raiders. All the while, Damon was, as his grandma liked to describe him, "busy" - perfecting his gift of connecting with people, making long-lasting friendships, fl ashing that brilliant smile and always fl irting with the ladies. Most often during his young adult years, Damon could be found enjoying life to the fullest whether at work or at play. He and his Uncle Roland founded a recruiting/employment search firm in Oakland some years ago, and he had work experience in customer service occupations as well. In the past few years, he had been working in the moving and transportation industry as a laborer in Denver. In his spare time, Damon enjoyed a good game of pool, jet-setting across the country, oft en with his good friend, Cedric, driving around in luxury cars, dressing well, looking good, and enjoying all that life had to off er. A true Libra, Damon devoted a great deal of time to socializing. He had the unique ability of making whoever he was with feel good about themselves and as if they were the most important person in his world. And, at that moment, that person would be just that - the most important person in Damon's world. But, he was "busy," so he had a lot to do and many to love so he moved along at a fairly rapid pace inviting a multitude of friends, family and lovely ladies into his personal circle of love. Damon saved, however, his most sincere and heartfelt love for his favorite ladies - his Mom and Grandma. He and his mother shared an especially strong bond that grew stronger each day, with him always reminding her how much he loved her, while she was loving him back and continuing to teach and cover him in prayer until the very end. During the last months of his life, it seems as if Damon was preparing his family for his departure. He called on relatives he hadn't seen in a while, connected with some for the fi rst time, made trips to see others and called the most precious woman in his life, his mother, four to fi ve times a day. On December 24, 2013, aft er enjoying a few games of pool, Damon was called home to be with the Lord. It's been reported that at one moment he was laughing and smiling, and in the next moment he was gone - the Lord had called his name. It broke our hearts to see him go, but there is comfort in knowing that God gift ed us with Damon for a little more than 35 years and we are thankful for the purpose he served in all of our lives. Now, those left to mourn his loss will honor and cherish his memory forever, including his children, Ameirr Weyrough of Denver, Dejenai Weyrough of McKinney TX and Malik Colon of Rockford IL; his mother, Roberta Jean Murdock of Richmond CA and his grandmother, Evelyn R. Taylor of Colorado Springs; his sisters, Lisa Combs Doran of Denver and Marcee Weyrough of Melbourne FL; God-sister, Malika Smith; a nephew, Michael Combs of Denver; three nieces, Ashley Combs of Denver and Sage Parker & Lilly Urban both of Melbourne FL; two aunts, Rochelle (Johnny) Taylor of Colorado Springs and Glynis Taylor of Denver; two uncles, William Taylor of Grand Junction and Robert Weyrough of Oklahoma; his cousins, LeonDre' (Kellech) Burney of Colorado Springs, Jermaine (Monika) Burney of Charlotte NC, Cameron (Chelsea) Jones of Denver, Steve Smith of Houston TX, Roderick Taylor of Glendale AZ, Morgan Taylor of Grand Junction, Tania and TyKesha Taylor both of Denver; step-children Ari-Yon Gulley, Maileek and LeiLonie Bradford all of Denver; and a host of "fam" comprised of grand-nieces & grand-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers and many freinds. He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Weyrough; grandfather, Roger Taylor, Sr.; grandmother, Marion Weyrough; uncle, Roger Taylor, Jr.; and nephew, Scottie O. Combs.
