Dale Cannon

April 18, 1957 — August 6, 2015

Dale Lee Cannon was born April 18, 1957, in Denver, Colorado to George A. Cannon, Sr. and Idella Louvenvia Price Cannon. Dale was the fifth and youngest child born to this union. He had three brothers, George Jr., Darrell, Stephen, and two sisters, Nathala, and Porsha. Dale received his nickname "BOBO" from his siblings because, as a baby, he was so giggly and silly acting. His joyful personality reminded them of the television character, "BOBO the Clown," who was very funny, loving, and playful. Being the baby of the family, BOBO was spoiled and always got his way especially with his mother, and most of the family members. He was so cute and very charming, making it hard to say "no" to him. As the baby and the last of the bunch, BOBO enjoyed some privileges not afforded his siblings. BOBO was educated in the Denver Public School Systems. He attended Phillips Elementary, Smiley Jr. High, and George Washington High School. As he grew, the name BOBO changed to fit his size, and his maturing personality. He was no longer silly and playful. He became a force to reckon with, and was often called "Big BO." Bo possessed a God given talent for artistic drawing. He excelled in art classes in school and became a gifted artist. He loved creating special pieces for his Mother with an extra touch. He was very close to her and he loved to compose poetry to honor her on special occasions. She was always a great supporter of him, never ceasing to encourage him to do his best. He was blessed to be the proud father of one daughter, Destreyia Cannon, whom he loved with all of his heart and soul. Family was very important to BO, and whenever possible he would make it a point to end his conversation by saying "I Love You". He understood the value of family and appreciated the roll his older siblings played in his life, as well as the role he played in his younger sister Porsha's life. In February 2015, BO joined the Divine Love Church of God in Christ, and rededicated his life to God. He was not only surrounded by the love of God, but by his family members. Dale was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, George A. Cannon, Jr., and Reverend Darrell E. Cannon, Sr. Dale Lee Cannon departed this life on August 6, 2015, at Rose Medical Hospital in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory include one daughter, Destreyia Cannon of Casper, Wyoming; one brother, Stephen L. Cannon; two sisters, Nathala Young, and Porsha Cannon; one aunt, Sylvia Hinskton, all of Denver, CO; his beloved and devoted girlfriend, Carol Thompson; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. He will be missed more than words can say, and as he always said to us, "I Love You!!!"
