Curtis Mix Sr.

Curtis Mix, Sr. was born on May 9, 1932, in Greenwood, Mississippi to Ella Marie Meeks. Curtis was a great source of joy to the Meeks family, so much so, that his step-father, Mr. Bennie Meeks was elated to have such a great, dependable son to cherish and call his very own. Later, as the Meeks family tree began to grow, Curtis found himself surrounded by his two younger brothers, Sinclair and Benny Meeks, who looked up to him with great admiration and respect.

In 1950, Curtis' life was impacted when he met and married the love of his life, the late Ruby Lee Miller. To this union six children were born; Dianne Rhodes, Patricia Dilworth, Cutis Mix Jr., Darlene Moses, Lydell Mix and Kevin (Lisa) Mix.

Curtis enjoyed spending time with his family. His greatest passion in life was taking care of his precious wife and kids. The family fondly remembers how their dad loved to dance and listen to his favorite Jazz classics and R&B music.

Curtis was a hard worker; he was employed with the Sealy Mattress Company for 27 years. He then decided to move his family to St. Louis, MO, where he worked for 15 years as an accomplished shoemaker for Samuel Shoe Company, before moving to Denver, Colorado.

Curtis is preceded in death by his precious wife, Ruby Lee Meeks; one son, Lydell Meeks; his father and mother, Bennie and Ella Meeks; one brother, Sinclair Meeks; and one grandson, Demetrious Mix.

Those left to cherish and celebrate his legacy are five children; Dianne Rhodes, Patricia Dilworth, Curtis Mix, Jr., Darlene Moses, and Kevin (Lisa) Mix; eight grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren all of Denver, Colorado and a host of many family members and friends.
