Cora Rodriguez

July 4, 1938 — August 1, 2017

Obituary Cora Lee Rodriguez, age 79, was born in Washington, DC on July 4, 1938 to Albert Coleman and Pauline Alice Veney as Cora Lee Coleman. God called her home on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, and she passed away quietly and peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Cora was the only daughter and the youngest of four children. She had three brothers, Earl "Tim" Coleman, Arthur Coleman, and Samuel Coleman. She had 6 children, 13 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren. Cora was raised, with two of her brothers, in Twin Oaks, PA and attended Chichester High School in Boothwyn, PA where she was in the school marching band and played the trombone. Her eldest brother, Earl was raised in South Carolina by other relatives. When Cora was in her forties, she and her brother Arthur were reunited with their brother Earl for the first time. What a wonderful time that was for them and she kept in touch with her brother as much as possible after that; taking three or four trips to visit him throughout the years. At age 18, in 1956, she married Glenn S. Bevill who was in the United States Army at the time. Five of their six children were born in Chester, Pennsylvania and one was born in Denver, CO. They moved to Denver in 1964 where Cora's brother, Arthur Coleman, was stationed at Lowry Air Force Base. Cora and Glenn worked various jobs over the years, raising their family together for 20 years until their divorce in 1976. Cora continued raising her two youngest children while pursuing a college degree. In 1977, she graduated with an Associates Degree in Accounting/Clerical from Front Range Community College. With her love caring for children, in 1993 Cora retuned to college to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education. She received an Associates Degree and graduated in May of 1995 with honors at the same time her daughter, Cheryl, graduated. In 1997, she began working as a Lead Teacher for several years in the Learning Center at Florence Crittenton School; a school for teenage mothers. She enjoyed her position very much there and the teen-mothers loved having her take care of their children. To know Cora was to love her. She was beautiful inside and out, wise, spunky, funny; a petite little lady with a lot of love and she made everyone else feel loved. She will always hold a special and cherished place in all our hearts forever. Cora accepted the Lord and Savior into her heart when she was younger and again recently as she endured the most difficult time in her life. Cora will be greatly missed but never, ever forgotten. We are thankful that she is in a better place and at peace with no more pain or worries. May her legacy of love and life continue for many years to come in the lives and hearts of those who loved her. May she rest in peace in our Father's hands until we see her again. We love you Mom, Grandma, Gigi, Sister, Auntie, and friend! Cora is survived by her eldest brother, Earl "Tim" Coleman, Greenwood, SC, her children; Cora Thomas, Houston, TX, Cheryl Bevill, Glenn Bevill (Mary), Mark Bevill, Robert Bevill all of Denver, CO, Helen Brady (Robert), Moreland, GA; 13 grandchildren; Aziza Thomas, Dyesha Bevill-Thomas, Dante Thomas, Asaizn Bevill-Grayson, Tyler Bevill-Robinson, Glenn Stevie Williams, Akia Cowans, Charity Hardin, TamraMarie Bevill, Jewell Scott, Corey Scott, Tomas Velasquez, 25 great-grandchildren (and one on the way) and a great-great grandchild soon to be born, plus many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and other relatives, and many friends.¬¬¬
