Clifton Joseph Wimberly was born in Denver, Colorado on June 17, 1959, to the proud parents Clifton Joseph Wimberly and Versie Mae Scott Wimberly. CJ was the only child born of this union. He was loved and remembered always as “CJ” by family and friends. Always smiling, CJ was a pleasant, outgoing, empathetic individual who would always lend a helping hand to anyone in need. CJ received his formal education in the Denver Public School District. He attended Mitchell Elementary, Morey Junior High and graduated from East High School. CJ later studied Culinary Arts and performed worked as a chef at several established restaurants in the Denver community. CJ’s greatest accomplishments was meeting and marrying his long-time love, Mary Agnes Wimberly, to this union, CJ became the proud father of Crystal J. Wimberly. He later met Courtney Reese, and to this union, he became the proud father of two more beautiful children, Samuel “Sammy” Wimberly, and Sonja Wimberly. He was later blessed with beautiful grandchild, whom he adored. In his spare time, CJ enjoyed cooking, fun, laughter, food, and entertaining his many family and friends. Finding time to spend with them was usually the highlight of his day. CJ was always ready to deliver a joke and a warm smile. He will be missed by all those who were fortunate enough to be blessed by his generosity and kindness. To know CJ was to love him. Clifton was preceded in death by his mother, Vercie Mae Scott Wimberly. Clifton Joseph Wimberly departed this life on August 23,2018 in Aurora, Colorado. He leaves to cherish his memory is his devoted companion, wife, Mary Agnes Wimberly; daughters, Crystal J. Wimberly Toresdahl, Sonja Wimberly; son, Samuel “Sammy” Wimberly; granddaughters, Carma Wimberly, Margaret Toresdahl, all of Denver; father, Clifton Joseph Wimberly, II of Palmdale, CA; brother, Christopher Joseph Wimberly of Aurora, CO; sister, Carla Wimberly of Compton, CA; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. We remember him for the love of his children and family. Carla states “His eyes can make you smile or cry; he was very understanding.” His niece Tonya remembers “CJ had an infectious smile that he shared with everyone.”
