Clifford Taylor, Sr. was born in Indiana Harbor, Indiana on January 15, 1952, he was the second child born to Johnny and Rubie Nuell. Clifford shared his childhood with his two brothers, Willie, Jr. and Tiress, and his sister, Jonisha. As a child he LOVED sports, all of them!
Clifford matriculated through the Indiana school system, graduating from Edgar High School. After graduation, he attended Hammond Tech where he received numerous awards in football, baseball, and basketball. He then decided to enlist in the United States Navy. He was stationed in Orlando, Florida. He served his country with grace and honor.
Clifford met his high school sweetheart, Carline Louiss and on January 26th, 1985, they became one at New Testament Church of God in Christ. To this union, Jermaine, Clifford, Jr., Kewan, Starletta, Marshall, James, Jerome, and Darkina were born. They were all Clifford’s pride and joy, and one big happy family. No matter what, through thick and thin, come hell or high water, you would always find them joined at the hip. Later, he welcomed his grandchildren, who stole his heart and became his entire world. He was affectionately called “Pops”, Hip Hop Grandpa, and “Daddy”.
Clifford joined Unity Church of God in Christ and was a faithful servant for the past six years. Clifford was a hard worker, he worked for Firestone as a forklift driver.
Clifford was a family man who enjoyed spending time with extended family, going to church, and taking care of his babies, Denzel and Lucky. He took pride in making sure all of the family cars were “fresh to death”. He was very knowledgeable, down to earth, and fun-loving. His kindness and loving spirit will be missed by all.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Rubie Nuell; his son, Jerome, and his brothers, Willie, Jr. and Tiress.
