Cheryl Earlene Fontenot (Morris) born May 10th 1954, was the 5th of 7 children born to Walter Bell Morris and Ellen Louise Morris. It was here in Denver, CO that marked the beginning of a beautiful life that was well lived.
She departed this life on November 25th 2020 in Denver, CO. Cheryl grew up in the Parkhill neighborhood in Denver CO after moving there in 1966. She was a graduate of George Washington High School, Class of 1972. She welcomed her two beloved children, Troy Morris and Ladean (Fontenot) Marshall, here in her hometown.
Cheryl was a beloved sister, mother, grand/great grandmother. She enjoyed being around her family especially during the holiday season. You could always find her sitting watching every holiday special premiering on TV.
She had a very special way with and loved animals, as a young child she would bring home all of the strays. This passion along with great dedication and hard work, lead her to become a veterinarian technician which was a lifelong dream. Cheryl had the opportunity to train at one of the best veterinary medical hospitals in Colorado, Alameda East. Her natural ability to care for animals was a true gift. Her inspiration has sparked interest in her second granddaughter, Aurielle, to follow in her footsteps and pursue Veterinary Medicine. Cats were always in Cheryl’s ownership, as they were one of her most cherished animals.
Cheryl had a special palate for great tasting foods, she could be seen often in the kitchen making her specially seasoned food, and other requested delicacies. From fried ribs, to mouth watering burgers, and one of a kind, crispy chicken, everyone enjoyed the love in her food.
She was a very caring and thoughtful person and would do anything to help others. Cheryl was a devoted daughter, sister, friend, mother, and grandmother. Spending time with her family was one of the favorite things that she enjoyed. She was very patient with her children/grandchildren and cared for them dearly, she never hesitated to sit down and play a game or two with hem.
Cheryl had a great sense of humor, everyone who knew her would enjoy her comedic timing. Family members would often get “very tickled” at the stories and jokes of the day. She knew how to enjoy life and was a great dancer and would show off her moves at any time.
Despite having many obstacles in life. Cheryl fought a heroic fight and handled its traumatic consequences better than most could imagine. Her passion for life, captivating smile, infectious laugh, inviting voice and courageous spirit will truly be missed.
Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents Walter Bell Morris of Haughton, LA and Ellen Louise Morris of Horton, Kansas.
She leaves a legacy of encouragement and love for her family. Cheryl leaves behind her son Troy Morris, daughter Ladean (Justin) Marshall, grandchildren Asia Smith, Aurielle and Alana Marshall, great grandson Kaden Smith. Devoted siblings Debra Morris, David Morris, Denice Morris, Lydia (Roy) Morris, Rita Morris, and Jonathan Morris and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
