Charlene Denise Norwood was born on June 1, 1956 in Denver, Colorado to her parents, Charles B. Coprich and Katie M. Carter. She was raised in Denver, Colorado where she grew up surrounded by her 4 brothers, Henry, Chris, Shawn, Charles, and 3 sisters, Diane, Kay and Sherry. Charlene was nicknamed and lovingly called, "Skeeter" by her friends and family. Skeeter completed her formal education in Denver; she attended Columbine Elementary, Cole Middle School and Manual High School. Skeeter married Johnnie "Cookie" Norwood in September of 1999. They shared wonderful memories together. Skeeter's most prize possessions were her children, Mark, Denail, and Nikita. She was very proud of her children. Later she was blessed with nine beautiful grandchildren, Andrew, Demarcus, Michael, Zanobia, Asia, Anthony, Denail Jr., Aliya, and Aylana. They were an added source of love and joy. Skeeter loved to cook and was known best for her cooking. She worked many years as a chef on college campuses such as Kansas State University and the University of Nebraska at numerous sorority and fraternities houses. She also hosted numerous cookouts for family and friends. Skeeter's kind, giving heart, and her beautiful smile (shown through her life) is how she was able to be such a loving mother, auntie, sister and friend to so many. All of us have lots of stories were Skeeter touched our lives. She loved her family and friends dearly. If you've ever known her she's taken your picture and fed you. She kept pictures of all of us on display, she held us very dear in her heart. "We know Skeeter loved a celebration, so today and forever we will celebrate her life." Charlene was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers; Chris Culbreth, Sr., Charles B, Coprich, Jr., and her sister; Diane Culbreth. Charlene Denise Norwood departed this life on May 12, 2015 in Denver, Colorado. She leaves to cherish her memory and to mourn her loss her children, Mark Hayes (Kathy) of Denver, CO, Denail Carter Sr, Denver, CO Nikita Knighton of Kansas City, MO; 2 brothers, Henry Culbreth Jr., Shawn Coprich, and 2 sisters, Kay Kirkpatrick and Sherry Russell-Coprich; 9 beautiful grandchildren, Andrew Hamilton- Carter, Demarcus L. Knighton, Michael Houser-Carter, Zanobia N. Knighton, Asia Hayes, Anthony Hamilton- Carter, Denail Carter Jr., Aliya Hayes, Aylana Hayes.
