Carl Wayne Moten was born on June 21, 1958, to his parents, Frank G. Moten, Sr. and Fannie Hayward Moten in Quincy, Florida. He was the youngest of seven children born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, Frank Jr., James, William and his sisters, Ruby, Mattie and Josephine. When Carl was only 18 months old, his mother passed away. He grew up in a loving and caring family. Carl received his early education in Quincy, FL, where he attended George W. Monroe Elementary School. He was a member of the little league football team. When Carl was thirteen years old, he relocated to Suisun City, California to live with his sister, Mattie. It was there, he graduated from Armijo High School in Fairfield, CA. While in high school, Carl developed a love of music and he became a Drummer for a Rock Band named Conjunction. He performed in many of the local Bay area establishments. Carl furthered his education by attending the Solano Community Junior College. In 1980, Carl moved to Denver, Colorado when his sister Mattie was transferred to the area. He started working for Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center in the Janitorial Department. He was hard-working, dedicated and performed his duties with a spirit of excellence. It was while working at Fitzsimmons, that Carl met the love of his life, Donna Watson. In 1985, they exchanged vows. To this union, one son, Carl Moten, Jr. was born. He truly loved his family and they were his pride and joy. The family shared many happy and precious moments together. Carl also enjoyed working alongside his father in law, Smitty Watson in his Auto Mechanic Shop. He went to school and completed courses in Auto Mechanic to sharpen his skills. He completed these courses at Emily Griffith Opportunity School in 1995. Later that year, Carl went to work Steamway International repairing small engines. A happy highlight of every year was attending the company Christmas party carrying "CJ." Carl accepted the Lord as his personal savior in 2011. He was led to the Lord by his sister, Mattie. He was baptized at the Potter's House in 2012. He truly enjoyed his walk with the Lord and the fellowship shared with his church family. Carl was a fun loving man, who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he loved spending quality time with family and friends. He was a man full of compassion and did not mind lending a helping hand to others. He was given the nickname "Easy" because of his generosity and willingness to help others. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful man. To know Carl was to love him. Carl Wayne Moten, Sr. departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on April 28, 2014, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include a son, Carl Wayne Moten, Jr.; 3 sisters, Ruby Moten, Josephine Vaughn, and Elder Dr. Mattie (Reverend Will) Guffie all Denver; 3 brothers, Frank (Luceria) Moten, Jr. James (Beverly) Moten, Milwaukee, Wisconsin and William Moten, Fairfield, CA; his mother-in-law, Minnie Watson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and many friends.
