Bruce Hocker

August 30, 1952 — April 27, 2016

Bruce Jurgan Hocker was born on August 31, 1952, in Denver, Colorado to his parents, Curtis Hocker, Sr. and Betty J. Morgan-Hocker. He was the fifth of five children born in the family. He was raised with his brother, Jefferie, and sisters, Larkquanetta, and Dameta. As a child, Bruce loved to play hide and seek. He would get so mad when his siblings would call him, "Boo Pee," he would chase them around the block. Bruce and his sister Dameta, would take the wagon and go to the Italian Lady's house because she loved to cook them Italian food. After a few hours, they would return home, full and satisfied, and in trouble with their mother for being gone for so long. In his youth, Bruce loved to go out in the fields and find bugs, snakes, and salamanders, he also loved to go on long bike rides with his nephews. Bruce attended Stedman Elementary, Smiley Junior High and completed his formal secondary education at the Denver East High School in 1972. He continued his education to and obtained a Business degree from ITT Tech in 2016. As a proud father, Bruce enjoyed the time he shared with his son, Brian Hocker. As a profession, Bruce was a cable installer and tester with such companies as AT&T, Martin Marietta, and Mile High Cable. His co-workers would say he was a joy to work with. Bruce had a heart to help people and provide great customer service; his entrepreneurial spirit pushed him into a business in Prepaid Legal Services. He was very successful in business. Bruce loved Kick Boxing, and was an active member of the International Fighting Association. He was good at kick boxing; he thought he was Bruce Lee. Bruce shared a special bond with his friend and mentor, Russell Preron, who is a Karate instructor. He also had two good friends, Don and Herb. They will miss the time they shared playing Chess every Saturday. Bruce was a fun loving and smart person. He loved to dance and he was an avid Bronco fan. He will truly be missed on every game day. Bruce is preceded in death by his father, Curtis Hocker, Sr.; his brother, Jefferie Hocker. On April 27, 2016, Bruce Jurgan Hocker departed this life in Denver, Colorado. He leaved to cherish his memory and to mourn his loss, his son, Brian Hocker; his mother, Betty J. Hocker; his sisters, Larkquanetta D. Hocker, Dameta J. Hocker, all of Denver; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
