Bonnie Lee Shiinault, Jr.
Bonnie Lee Shinault Jr., born on March 6, 1958, in Denver, Colorado, he was the second child of Bonnie Lee Shinault Sr. and Marva June Shinault, and he grew up alongside his brothers Lonnie, Anthony, and Daryl in a close-knit family where laughter and adventure filled their days.
In his youth, Bonnie enjoyed a variety of activities, including skating, biking, playing streetball, and spending time with family and friends in Stillwater, Oklahoma. One vivid memory shared by his brother Daryl recalls a day when young Bonnie and his siblings were playing outside when a bull unexpectedly appeared, leading them to an exhilarating escape.
Bonnie attended George Washington High School, where he graduated in 1976. His life took a joyful turn when he met Valerie Shinault at an apartment complex on Corona St. in Denver. Their friendship blossomed into love, culminating in their wedding on September 13, 1987, at Good Shepherd Baptist Church. Valerie fondly remembers Bonnie as a spirited individual who was never afraid to speak his mind.
Despite facing significant challenges, including a life-threatening injury from an altercation that nearly claimed his life, Bonnie demonstrated an unwavering spirit and determination to overcome adversity. His remarkable recovery served as a testament to his strength and resilience, qualities that defined him as a devoted husband and father.
Bonnie's love for his children was profound and unwavering. His children hold dear memories of a father who cherished every moment spent with them. Bonnie was known for taking Juanita and Ebonie on motorcycle rides, teaching them to drive and celebrating milestones such as their first cars. Their shared experiences, including fishing trips and heartfelt conversations, exemplify the deep connections he nurtured within the family.
As a father, Bonnie instilled values of responsibility and care in his children. Brian fondly remembers his father's presence at his football games and the lessons imparted about family loyalty. Bonnie's nurturing spirit extended to his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly and treated as his own.
Bonnie's warmth and humor left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. His endearing phrases and playful jokes brought joy to those around him, earning him the affectionate nickname "Pops" among friends and family. He found pleasure in the simple things, whether it was tending to the lawn or sharing meals (even when the barbecue occasionally went awry).
In honor of his life, Bonnie is remembered as a steadfast figure whose love influenced many lives. The memories shared by his family paint a picture of a man who was not only a provider and protector but also a friend and confidant. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Bonnie Lee Shinault, Jr. departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on August 29, 2024 in Denver, Colorado. He is survived by his beloved children, Juanita Lynn, Ebonie Lee, and Brian Keith Shinault oter relatives and many friends.
Bonnie Lee Shinault Jr. will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain a guiding light in the lives of those he loved.
