Birdie Bester

Birdie Louise Bester affectionately called "Berta" by her family and friends were born on January 8, 1948, in Newton, Mississippi to her parents, Johnny Lee Bester and Gladys Johnson Bester. She was one of thirteen children born in the family. She was blessed to have three brothers and eleven sisters. She received her formal education in Denver, Colorado, where she graduated from East High School. "Berta" never had children of her own but she was a loving and devoted aunt to all her nieces and nephews. They all shared many happy and memorable moments together. By profession, Berta was employed by the hotel chain, Holiday Inn. She worked in their Housekeeping Department. She was hard-working, dependable and performed her duties with a spirit of excellence. She worked well with her co-workers and supervisors. She retired in 1999, after working with the company for over twenty years. Berta was a fun-loving woman who enjoyed life and those she encircled. In her free time, she enjoyed sharing with family and friends. She enjoyed the visits to the mountains, socializing, cooking and dressing. Her closest friends, Lena Mae Rainy, Tippy and Earl Coffin will miss the camaraderie they all shared together and fact that she was a true and trusted friend. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful lady. To know Berta was to love her. Birdie Louise Bester departed this life on August 9, 2015, in her home in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss include 3 brothers, Henry Bester and Steve Bester both of Stonewall, MS, Dennis Bester, Quitman, MS; 11 sisters, Vider (Hezekiah) Pope, Stonewall, MS, Rosie Chapman, Quitman, MS, Daisy (Robert) Thomas, Quitman, MS, Katie King, Stonewall, MS, , Bettie S. Williams, Quitman, MS, Dale Sanders, Rose Hill, MS, Mary Ella Bester, Meridian, MS, Linda (Gene) Thomas, Quitman, MS, Brenda (Tommy) Bester, Enterprise, MS and Betty Bester, Stonewall, MS and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and many friends.
