Beverly Broadus

July 1, 1963 — May 13, 2016

Beverly Kay Garcia-Broadus was born in Grants, New Mexico on July 1, 1963, to her parents, Jose and Maida Garcia. She was the third child of 5 children. She had two older siblings, Debra and Danny, and two younger siblings, Travis and Linda. Beverly lived her earlier years of childhood in Center, Colorado. As a child, she enjoyed spending time with her siblings and parents; she liked to fish, and spend time on her fathers' boat. The family liked to partake in seasonal activities such as ice skating, camping and family vacations. The family moved to Rifle, Colorado where she received her formal education graduating Valedictorian of her class from Rifle High school in 1981. She enjoyed sports and excelling in everything she did. Not long after high school, Beverly furthered her education by attending the American Beauty Academy in Grand junction, Colorado to become a Cosmetologist. She then moved to Denver, Colorado where she met Antonio Broadus. Antonio fell madly in love with Beverly and couldn't resist stealing several kisses before the "I do's" on their Wedding Day. On March 22, 1985, Beverly and Antonio were joined in holy matrimony at the Riffle Assembly of God Church, in Rifle, Colorado. Beverly and Antonio had three daughters, Taneisha, Mercedes, and Antonia. The family shared many happy and loving moments together. Beverly was later blessed with three grandchildren who added much more love and joy to her life. They like to remember her as the "Grandma" that was always there; she helped them learn to ride bikes, and she found much pleasure when they would accompany her with her gardening. She loved to sing to them, and cook for them. When the family moved to Des Moines, Iowa, Beverly and Antonio begin to write their story. Their pages filled with love, laughter, and family. She devoted her life to her husband and daughters. She was the possible in what seemed impossible. A dedicated housemaker, mother, and wife. Beverly loved to give her daughters the experiences she had as a child. At a very young age she introduced her girls to the Lord. Having them grow up in church and attend services no matter what. Beverly enjoyed getting together with all the family and going to Big Creek Lake Campgrounds. Holidays were always a big deal to her decorating, baking and taking her girls to the parades. Years later, Beverly and her family moved to Grand Junction, Colorado. She was able to then be around her parents and siblings. She was over joyed when she was able to share her birthdays with her mother and family. On football Sunday's, after church, Beverly was front and center with her Bronco Gear on, and ready to cheer her team on! The family eventually moved back to Denver. Beverly spent most of her time working and being with family. She enjoyed attending the Potter's House of Denver. Beverly liked reading her Bible and playing games on the computer. To her daughters, she was the light in the dark. She always had the answer and the guidance to help anyone. She played a big role in the lives she touched, and will be missed by all those who were fortunate enough to be in her presence. By profession, Beverly worked as a Telemetry Technician for St. Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, and continued in the same position when she worked for St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado. She moved to Denver, Colorado where she continued striving in the work force at St. Anthony's Hospital. While at St. Anthony's, she loved that her grandson was born and she could see him at any time. She was hardworking, reliable, and detail oriented going above and beyond the call of duty. Beverly made many sacrifices working long hours to be able to provide a nice lifestyle for her family. Beverly was preceded in death by her father, Jose Garcia; her brothers, Danny Garcia, and Travis Garcia; and sister, Linda Garcia. Beverly Kay Broadus departed this life to be with the Lord, her father, brothers and sister, on May 13, 2016 in Aurora, Colorado. Those left to mourn and cherish her memories include her husband, Antonio Broadus; her daughters, Taneisha Broadus, Mercedes Broadus, Antonia Broadus; her mother, Maida Garcia; her sister, Debra Orozco; her grandchildren Dhaevontae Broadus, Nashai Ephriam, Genesis Herod; and a great number of in-laws, nieces, nephews, other family members as well as many friends.
