Betty Taylor

A beautiful life ended on Sunday, March 1, 2015, at approximately 10:00 am with the passing of Betty Jewel Clemons Taylor. She departed her earthly life in the home of her daughter, Shirley Ponds in Aurora, Colorado. Betty Jewel Clemons Taylor, a native of Arkansas was born Sunday, November 1, 1931, to the late Lonnie and Edith Clemons. She was the second of thirteen children. She accepted Christ at an early age and became active with the Mt Zion Baptist Church in Morrilton, Arkansas. . She remained active with the church until relocating to Omaha, Nebraska where she joined the Church of Christ. Betty was active in various organizations within Church of Christ, but devoted most of her time with the church choir. Betty was educated in the Morrilton, Arkansas Public Schools. She later graduated from Althouse Cosmetology Beauty School, Omaha, Nebraska. She served in the beauty profession on a part time basis while serving as Clerk Messenger with the City of Omaha, Nebraska. She was honored to be named, by the City of Omaha, 1983, Employee of the Year. She received the honor due to work performance, positive / professional attitude, dependability, work habits and initiatives. Betty often said that "her most important job was being the single parent to her adorable daughters, Shirley and Joceslyn." Betty was quite mannered, always promoted family, education and help to others. She was always a supporter in assisting her children and grandchildren in furthering their education. Her faith in God, love for her family and mankind in general will be remembered by her daughters, Shirley Ponds (Johnny Rodgers) and Joceslyn (Norman) Jones, Aurora, Co; sisters, Ruby Robinson, Omaha, Nebraska, Ruth Fleming (Will), New Albany, Ohio, Doris Smith (Mel), Crossett, Arkansas and brother, Freddie L. Clemons, Morrilton, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
