On July 26, 1945, Betty Jean was born to Dorothy and Alexander Howell, in Bradley, Arkansas. She was the oldest of eight children born to this family. She was very close with her brothers, Charles, Charlie Lee, Ernest, Ricky, and sisters Marie, Minnie L. and Dorothy Ann. Betty developed into a caring, loving and patient person as a result of her helping to take care for the home and her siblings. Betty Jean received her primary and secondary education in Bradley, Arkansas, graduating from Bumphum High School in 1963.
In the late 60's, Betty Jean met the future husband, Calvin Manning.. The were married on April 27, 1970. This family included children Randy, Marie, Tina, and Eddie. The family moved to Denver in 1975 to be with family and to explore better opportunities for education, employment, and a brighter future.
Over the years Betty Jean working in various capacity and industries. She work at the airport in the 80's, as a cook at Black Pepper restaurant in the 90's as well as child care at a daycare center. Her most rewarding responsibility was caring for her husband and children. A great cook, Betty enjoyed sharing a homecooked meal and spending time with family and friends. She would occasionally cook and feed the homeless. . Betty had a sweet tooth and was particularly fond of lemon cake and cookies. To know her was to love her. Betty Jean was a loving, compassionate, and generous woman of integrity.
Betty Jean departed this life peacefully at her home on August 2, 2019. She is proceeded in death by her parents Dorothy and Alexander Howell; her sisters Marie and Minnie; and her son Randy Taylor. Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband Calvin Manning, her children Marie Hudson, Tina Sasser, and Eddie (April) Sasser; her siblings Charles (Susan), Charlie Lee (Stephanie), and Ricky Manning, and Dorothy (Rodney) Marshall; grandchildren, Monet, and Martelle Hudson, Marquez and Marshoie Banks, Daviaire Herron, DeQuira and DeQuanjara Thompson, Levelle, Shantell and E.J. Sasser; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and devoted friends.
Gone are the days we used to share
But in my heart you are always there
My memories of you will never close
I miss you more than anyone knows
