Betty Lou Earl was born on February 15, 1933, in Denver, Colorado to her parents, Major Lewis Robert Brandon and Lue Willia Polk Brandon. She was the first of three children born in the family. She was raised surrounded by her brothers Lewis, and her sisters, Mary Lou, and Beverly. She received her early education in Denver where she attended East High School. Her siblings remember her loving pretty and delicate things. She also enjoyed drawing and coloring. She put on plays on the front porch and invited the neighborhood children over. In May of 1950, she united in holy matrimony to Murphy Oliver. They exchanged vows in Denver, Colorado. To this union, Leocade and Lanny were born. She later married Oliver Winn in 1957 and to this union, Keenan and Lydrick were born. She was a loving and devoted mother who took great pride and joy in the care and nurture of her family. Betty accepted the Lord as her personal savior at a very early age. She was a faithful member of Agape Christian Church, serving under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Robert Woolfolk. By profession, Betty was employed as a Dental Hygienists. She was hard-working, dependable, and performed her duties with a spirit of excellence. She also continued to enjoy her skills as an Artist. Betty was a fun-loving woman who enjoyed life and those she encircled. In her free time, she enjoyed drawing, coloring, making jewelry and decoupaging. She loved wearing cowboy boots, hats, and fringe jackets. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful woman. To know Betty was to love her. She is preceded in death by sons, Lanny Oliver, and Lydrick Winn, Jr.; her parents, Major Lewis and Lue Willia Brandon. Betty Lou Earl departed this life on September 10, 2018, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss include 1 son, Lewis N. McGowan of Seattle, Washington; 3 daughters, Keenan L. Winn (Keith Thibodeaux), Ladell T. McGowan of Atlanta, Georgia, and Leocade M. Oliver, all of Denver, Colorado; 1 brother, Lewis M. Brandon of Seattle, Washington; 1 sister, Missionary Beverly M. Bates of Denver, Colorado; 39 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
