Bethea L'Vonne Jones was born on December 11, 1928, in Wichita, Kansas. She was a blessing to her parents Oliver Flerry and Junetta Brown being the first of four children born to this union. Bethea received her formal education in Wichita, where she graduated from Plainview High School on August 3, 1945. Shortly after high school, Bethea was introduced to John F. Jones, Jr. who would soon become her husband. On February 5, 1950, the two become one in holy matrimony. Together they shared four sons: John III, Rodney, Lamont, and Clifton; she was also a mother to two-step children: Gayle and Marvin. After her family was established, they moved to Denver, Colorado. Later, she was able to spread her unconditional love to eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Once they settled in Denver, they started their own business. All-State Building Maintenance was the janitorial and window cleaning service Bethea shared with her husband. She was responsible for contracts, payroll and whatever else would come up. Bethea kept the business going even after the passing of her husband, cleaning buildings all over downtown Denver and the Denver Metro area. Later, she left that business to work for the United States Postal Service, then became a Financial Assistant working at the Lowry Air Force Base, where she was appreciated for outstanding support of operations for Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Bethea retired from the Lowry Air Force Base as a decorated civilian. Bethea was a woman of faith and belief in the Lord, she accepted the Lord as her personal savior at an early age. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. She served her church and the Lord. She believed in the power of Prayer and that everyone needed a relationship with the Lord. She worshiped with the church for many years. A dedicated mother who cherished the time she spent raising her children; she loved to read, play Pinochle, and Bingo. Bethea always kept her door open for family and friends in need of shelter, food, or just a warm heart to confide in. She affected so many lives, there is not a kinder, more forgiving, more understanding, more loving person than Bethea. To know her is to love her. She is preceded in death by her husband, John F. Jones, Jr.; her son, Rodney Jones; her parents, Oliver and Junetta Flerry; and her brother, Oliver Flerry, Jr. Bethea departed this life to the Lord's embrace on June 8, 2013 in Aurora, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory include three sons, John Jones, Lamont Jones, Clifton Jones; her brothers, William Flerry, Gus Flerry; her dear devoted sister-in-law, Delores Washington; eight grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
